I collect all bottle caps the are unique to my collection. (No duplicates, multiple from the same brewery is fine as long as they're different) I also have empty bottles/cans, but I'm more selective. Caps are small and easy to collect, but bottles are not so I choose really cool looking ones/ beers I really loved.

Ooohh that's a toughy. We have had 5 and 6 year old pilsners IPA's, and pale ales pretty routinely. I have some infected Rabid Duck I pull out every year. Man, it was a tough pour this year. "Luckily" I still have another 6 pack.

And I thought I was the only one who did this. I think my wife agrees to taste them so I will go away and leave her alone!

I have unfortunately come across a case of Busch Light cans in my closet / cellar. I picked it up back in "the day" off the near or out of code pile when I was at the distro still, thinking I needed to pack it to a golf outing. That puts it at as a minimum, 3 years old. I also have intentionally aged a 90 minute for 3 years and have an odd year vertical of Hopslam working, but it's only 2013 and 2015......

I collect caps as well just like you do. My plan is to make something with them when I retire. Started collecting in 1995. Of course what will most likely happen is I'll never get to that project when I retire, and after I die, my kids will have a bucket full of bottle caps to remember their old man by.

I'm thinking about getting all CANtankerous and including the Busch Light cans as extras so everyone can partake in the joy!

I like to add up the ABV's and see what my 'total' was for the day. It's all mental math, so it gets especially fun if I drink a bomber of something, because then I need to take (22oz/12oz)xABV to account for the larger format.

My girlfriend and I stood in line for BCBS last year. She lives with her parents (most importantly her father, the only other beer drinker) and keeps her share in the communal beer fridge. I know she wouldn't open one of them unless I'm there to share (and visa versa), but she scared me once by saying that her dad popped open the Proprietor's on a whim and drank it. My heart sank a little, and I had to keep repeating "it's only beer, it's only beer". I was happy to find out she was joking, but now I do feel pressure to drink them soon.

I've started doing that, too, after hearing several breweries recommend it.

It'd be weird if you didn't do this, wouldn't it?

When my family and I decide to go out to dinner I always search for the restaurant with the best beer selection, I could care less about the food. This has limited me though when it comes to places I can take my 1 year old son and not feel like a weirdo...

I pack up bottles like I'm sending them off to war in the hopes that someone else will send me different bottles in return. Shockingly, everyone seems willing to return the favor.

The weirdest thing I do...I am a San Diego Chargers fan. On game days I only drink beers from San Diego breweries, and basically that entire week I will not drink anything from the home state of their opponent (unless it's in-state opponent, then I avoid that metro area). Unfortunately based on their play lately, my superstitions are useless.

I've been doing this for years now with NFL football and have started to spread this to other sports I watch. As pointless as this exercise is, somehow it just feels like the right thing to do

It gets worse. I also convert the volume/ABV into Bud Lite equivalents. Not that I would drink Bud Lites so I could drink more than I could if I drank all craft beer.

Somewhere in all of this there has to be a practical application.

I spend more money on beer then I do food, that is kind of weird.

Seems perfectly rational to me. Maybe I will try this to see if it helps my hapless Washington Redskins.

It can get overwhelming. Weekends make the decision process easier-one of everything!

Speaking from personal experience and as evidenced by this thread, your wife is normal. I am not so sure about some of us!
