haha yes, fancy is also acceptable.
The best was when my beer salesman co-worker accused me of drinking beer with stuff in it.
Sir, your fizzy adjucted lager has 25% more ingredients than my craft ales...

You know once I got to thinking...dogfish, victory and stone's collab "saison du buff" was really weird when I first saw it, circa 2010 or 2011, cant remember exactly. First time was like...umm these are for cooking? But when revisited I actually really liked it. Crisp flavor, high carbonation with each sip tasting like a different herb that its brewed with. Would buy if I had easy access to it and didnt have to spend at least 20 in gas to get there

This saison actually was my gateway into more traditional saisons. Now I can't get enough of them!

"Cabbie" from newcastle. Definitely not the weirdest beer ever but its taste is surely different.

Wells Banana Bread Beer ... First time I had it was on tap and I just sat there smelling it for what had to be 5 minutes, if you like banana bread then the smell alone is worth buying the beer. Very enjoyable beer.

Ballast Point brewed Brother Levonian with Sansho Button, which is a plant that numbs your mouth if it comes in contact with your lips/gums. A few years ago they brewed a batch with more Sansho than usual. It was a real trip- we chased it with a pretty spicy jalapeno Big Eye. The numbing followed by the spice was really great.

Winner!! Winner!! ThisWangsChung wins the internet! :stuck_out_tongue:

DFH does produce some amazing beers. I need to try that one with the chilis and stuff in it (portamarillo?), I think they have some at a store I frequent. Ol' Sam an 'nem come up with some great stuff, and I hope their ideas keep getting even more off the wall than they already are.

I rather like Texas Big Beer's Big Blonde. State law requires that a blonde ale "must be light in color," and big blonde is light in color. It's also 10.5% ABV! It's essentially a Belgian strong pale ale (from the yeast), and the head brewer had several certified judges help him get the recipe right. And funnily, it does taste quite a bit like a blonde ale (mixed with a Belgian pale, of course, but it's quite tasty).

Freetail's Kitchen Cinq was quite tasty. It's a quad (of sorts), with lots of odd spicy flavors and non-standard ingredients. In general this brewery comes up with some good oddball beers. Last time I had a berliner weiss with peppers (chipotle) and also a porter with peppers. Both had a relatively HIGH amount of heat, but not undrinkably so (we're not talking cave creek chili beer hot, just "quite warm" hot). They also made the best green beer I've ever had* last year for St Patty's day. It was spirulina witbier, 3.9% ABV, and quite green. But it was a very tasty witbier, not some crappy macro with food coloring added. The head brewer explained how to make it, should I ever get such a wild hair (I probably won't, lol).

*all of which sucked up till this one

I may have to try the big blonde. I've had one of theirs that I didn't care for but I will give them another shot.
