This is the classic looking snifter that everyone knows. http://www.beerwrangler.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/snifter-215x300.jpg Unfortunately large plain sniifters that look similar to that are very hard to find in stores. I did find one at Marshall's dept store though that looks just like this one: http://www.truebeer.com/assets/images/giant-snifter-beer-glass-1.jpg Now what are your thoughts on it ? Does anyone own one ? Im not really a fan of the thick stem and more fishbowl shaped design but it will suffice I guess.
I never liked snifters in which the rim is curving inward when the opening is that small. I prefer them to flare out a bit at the end...more nose room I'd just order them from amazon honestly.
I actually have something similar; the bulb is not quite as big, same thick stem, wider base. I have had them for quite a few years now and do really like them. Not so different than some red wine glasses out there.
I've got one of them labeled for a Belgian beer by the name of "Cherish Kriek". I don't use it much because it's a little smaller; and it just doesn't seem to feel right in my hand (of course maybe that's because I'm not used to using it). One advantage is that it's harder to knock over if that helps.
Yeah obviously but just wanted to point out how difficult it is to find large snifters in stores. It's definitely an arduous task. When you find one its like you discovered gold even if you dont like the look of it lol.
If you have a World Market around they have a good selection of glassware, including regular 10oz snifters.
Not sure about snifters, but Dollar Tree has nice, thick glassware. Tulips, regular mugs, dimpled mugs, wine glasses, etc. For a dollar.
They don't have snifters and the only tulip they sell is the 13.5 oz poco grande. Maybe its different where others live.
If you have a world market near you, you can almost certainly find a sniffer identical to the one you are looking for. The one near me has 3 different sizes. Very reasonably priced too.
