Woot woot! Thanks Bros.! I'd like to break in this new forum by asking if anyone has tried Franziskaner's "Royal" (metric system) Jahrgangs Weissbier yet. It has not been reviewed. Apparently they change the recipe every year. I hope next year's is better....
I haven't heard of Franzi Royal Jahrgangs Weiss. I wonder if it will get imported to the US? Glad Germany has it's own forum again!
Bought it out of curiosity at the bottle shop. Not recommended. Maybe the worst wheat beer I've had over here, and on top of that they charge a premium for it (€0.95 per 500ml vs. maybe €0.75 per 500ml of the normal stuff)! I'm no expert - by a longshot - but...ugh... the normal Franziskaner, which is OK but I'm not a huge fan of, is 10x better. http://www.franziskaner-weissbier.de/franziskaner-weissbiere/royal
Not available in the Köln area afaik, bought it a few weeks ago in Saarland. I did not hear anything good about it yet..
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this. Part of me thinks it can't be as bad as I'm remembering...
Welcome back Germania! Never heard of Franziskaner's Royal, but to be honest we only ever see the Weissbier over here.....
It is a new product, existing since autum 2011. Every year it should taste a little different, the recipe is not alway the same, a little bit like the Paulaner Oktoberfest. Well... http://www.bierspot.de/news/franziskaner_royal-das_neue_jahrgangsweissbier_ist_da_1046.html
Thanks for this link. Sounds very much like I fell for a marketing gimmick. Sounds also like A-B/InBev is putting its stamp on Franziskaner..."with new products and supporting (strengthened?) marketing investment..." Sounds familiar.
Guten Tag! Nice to see the Deutschland forum back up and going. I wonder if writing in German is also still verboten... Servus und prost Jungs (und Mädels)!
Hey - Düsseldorf was great, I enjoyed my time there. I'll try and post a trip review soon. Sampling Alt in it's natural environment is a fantastic experience....
