I remember that too... but it may have been specifically Denver that they shut down? I can't recall for sure.

As someone whose in-laws live in Craig and has to visit somewhat frequently, I would welcome that!

Depending on one’s definition of “least desirable”, I suppose. I know they have a passion for place and community, meaning that’s more important to them than chasing money (that said, demand is so strong they can do both successfully; my wallet usually hurts after a trip up to Greeley :grinning: ). Sure, they could drop a taproom smack dab in the middle of Denver and probably be instantly successful. But then they would immediately lose the influx of local Greeley spending, which is home (because, as you say, many people—rather unfairly—see Greeley as an undesirable place). C Springs seems smart to me, as I don’t particularly see this taproom cannibalizing visits to Greeley. Time will tell on that front, though. The decision also expands their market a bit as I’m sure folks down that way aren’t as inclined to trek up to Greeley as often. My two cents. I’m not affiliated with ‘em in any way (sure wish I was, though!); just a huge fan. Also...your statement may have been purely rhetorical :grinning:

All Joking aside, I kinda wonder why a brewery like WeldWerks wouldn’t like West, not South. I’m somewhat surprised that one of these Front Range Breweries doesn’t open a satellite brewery in the Grand Junction area. I spent a little bit of time over there last Fall working and was quite surprised to see the growth and the need for quality breweries. I know Troy set out years ago and opened up in Glenwood Springs, but it seems few have followed. I guess the lure of the Front Range is too strong, the FOMO factor?

The population of El Paso County is over 700,000 and growing rapidly.
Colorado Springs is a 2 hour drive from Greeley but you have to go through Denver.
The population of Mesa County is 150,000 and not growing much at all.
Grand Junction is ~4 hour drive from Greeley.
Just a small guess at reasons why WW chose to head south to Colorado Springs.

As far as Colorado Springs being "least desireable", if you mean reasonable cost of living, (relatively) low crime, less traffic, clean water and air, lots of outdoor and cultural activities, lots of high-tech jobs; and only an hour away from Denver for everything else not already covered- a normal person could see the benefits. I lived in Fort Collins for many years. It's getting very crowded and expensive there- and fewer job opportunities some sectors of the workforce.

Colorado Springs also has a better zoo than Denver.

For now.. lots of ‘conservatives’ down there. They love trashing the environment so big corps that don’t give a shit about them can make more money now with little regard for how it will affect the water we drink and make beer from later

I'm not really sure where to start with this, other than to say that you are wrong and perhaps should expand your horizons a bit. Colorado Springs has been "conservative" for quite a while but manages to balance protecting the environment with keeping the cost of living affordable. The extreme would be Boulder- they are very conscious of protecting the environment but it's now extremely expensive to live there. If you actually spent a great deal of time down here, you'd see how zealously Colorado Springs Utilities protects it's water sources, you wouldn't be able to make these kind of ignorant statements in sincerity.

Sorry bois... maybe a little overzealous with that comment, but its based on years of experience in construction all over where I hear these folks talking about restrictive environmental rules and how they don’t give a fuck about them. Seen and whistle blew many spills of harmful chemicals into state waters. Certainly not arguing for anything bolder-like, but something in the middle wouldn’t hurt...

In the end, I just want clean air and water. I’d be scared AF if I were a parent with the way some people think.

The area of town they will be in is far from undesirable. Almost right up against the mountains and minutes from several popular outdoor recreational areas. Plus the demographics of the West side tend to be more similar to other parts of CO than the rest of the Springs. If they were going into the East or North side of the city it would be another story, but they chose an awesome spot.

MA NEIPA snob weighing in here. Did a quick weekend in Boulder and Summit Co from Boston. Went to Hazels in Boulder and was pointed to Juicy Bits along with a few other options. Picked up a 4 pack and really enjoyed it. Was definitely the star of my trip. In fact today saw my local shop in MA had something from Weld Works so will be keeping and eye out to see if this makes it out my way. Well done Weld Works!

I'm really digging Cardboard Meteorite. No way I'd guess it clocks in at 8.3% Probably my favorite since Basement Bits.

The Lotus DDH Juicy bits was really tasty. Pfifen Friesch (I know I spelled that wrong) was also a good IPA.

I heard someone recently comment that they thought WW quality has gone downhill since the big new fermenter came in. I can't say that I've noticed a drop in quality for anything I've had from them in the last 2-3 months. If anything I'd say they are pretty consistent on the quality spectrum.

Gents - holy hell. That 4th Anniversary Medianoche is a fine-tuned b*tch. Fluffernutter, excellent. Rye Vanilla Medianoche, yes please. IPAs and sours, on point as always. If this is declining quality, bring it on.

Had the WW West Coast IPA, and it's great. Not a huge hazy fan (I can drink about exactly one of them), but this is good. Def worth a buy.
