Seems we're mixing BSDA and Quad. Boulevard Dark Truth Stout. Very solid BSDA/Belgian Stout.

I've tried quite a few of the highly-acclaimed Belgian ales from Belgium, as well as a bunch of American ones, and I actually find that my favorite Belgian-style beers are usually from American breweries. I'm in the minority, it seems.

My favorite quadrupel (from anywhere) is Avery The Reverend. Favorite BSDA is either Midnight Sun Monk's Mistress or Unibroue La Terrible. Favorite BSPA is probably Avery Salvation or Midnight Sun Fallen Angel.

Tripel Karmeliet from Belgium took the cake for my favorite tripel though.

I'm sipping on an Ovila Quad and I gotta say this holds its own against its Belgian counterparts. Best American made quad I've ever had by far.

I honestly think that Boulevard's BBQ holds a candle to Abt 12 and Rochefort 10.
They're all so very different, though.

I hear where you are coming from. It has been awhile since I have had a quad other than 3 Phil. so it is difficult to place my thoughts correctly into what I remember experiencing, but I just remember being overwhelmed with the aftertaste and the lingering mouthfeel after every sip. I was probably off in my descriptions, so I hope I don't affect anyone's desire to try any of the beers I had listed.

I hate autocorrect, I would have done the same.

    The Bruery's 7 Swans-a-Swimming. Too bad it was a one-time-only release.
