The one gallon of hot trub? No, I don't drink the trub. That gets dumped in a strategic location in my backyard.

You must not strain or whirlpool your wort before pitching

I don't even get that much trub on a 10 gal batch!

Flameout. Chill to 155F. Steep / settle for 20-40 mins. Manual whirlpool if I'm in the mood. Drain kettle without tilting. Leaving a gallon of trub / wort reduces plate chiller gunk.

Are you mixing up mash tun volume and boil volume? You probably need like 8+ gallons in the mash tun if doing biab but then due to grub loss and the grains soaking up the water you only transfer like 7 gallons.

I'm using a hop rocket...which may be the difference...but honestly you seem to be a glutton for trub : )

I brew like a homebrew hedonist and my beer is still cheaper than buying craft beer. #winning

I'm taking advice and going with just US 2 row - is 15lb too much on a 5.5 gal boil!?

Great Scott! Are you telling me that you built a time machine, out of a fermentor?
I hope OP doesn't ask for fresh 2014 hops.

okay . . . I'll take the zinger on this one . . . insert 2015 - 2014 in the appropriate spot on my original post and it might make a little more sense  . FTR, I've FU'ed worse than this . . . both online and in the brew house.
