Ward, your new user name threw me for a loop!

I must confess that I can't recall the specifics of your recipe. My first version of my clone of Duet was solely hopped with Simcoe/Amarillo with the following flavor/aroma additions:

    • 0.5 oz. Simcoe/0.5 oz. Amarillo for last 15 minutes of boil
    • 0.5 oz. Simcoe/0.5 oz. Amarillo for end of boil (and 40 minute hop stand)
    • 1 oz. Simcoe/1 oz. Amarillo dry hop (pellets for 10-14 days)
For the last few batches I have used either Warrior or Magnum for bittering.

I have only had Alpine Duet once (a local beer retailer obtained a bottle for me via a trade). I preferred my homebrewed Duet IPA but in all fairness I had no idea how old the Alpine Duet bottle was since they don't date their bottles.

    Cheers!

    Jack

Chinook Cascade Columbus for that dank grapefruit.

According to Stan Hieronymus, it is the only hop with cis-rose oxide, that give a floral rose aroma . Fresh Two Hearted at the brewery has that aroma.

My next DIPA is using Nugget... When I brewed a stout recently using nugget I was surprised how amazing the aroma was from that hop. I knew I wanted to use it then in an IPA. As of now, my recipe includes Columbus, Chinook, cascade, galaxy and nugget. Nugget using in the whirlpool and dry hop primarily. Can't wait!

Fresh Squeezed is still one of my favorite West Coast IPAs...it bitters with Nugget and then Citra and Mosaic in the boil and dry hop. I always look forward to visits to Oregon in part to Fresh Squeezed!

yep, love nugget-horizon-cascade- Columbus combos. Adding citra-galaxy-ammarillo-simco and or others make great brews.
