After seeing @JayORear post about Beachwood Greenshift I was intrigued...then I crossed its path in NV. Hot damn, such a good DIPA/TIPA that leaves the sweetness behind and has huge hop aroma/flavor dimension.

Thanks @JayORear, wasn't even on my radar but it was outstanding for my palate and preferences,

Widowmaker from Fall River is still a good WC dipa but got dam I did not realize it was 10+%.

Props I suppose but now I have some answers about the way some days have gone

I always thought it was 9%, but usually wasn't paying attention as I'd grab one coming off Shasta.

Ya that's kinda what I assumed. I think its like 10.2% or 10.5%. Makes me appreciate it more honestly. Its a real top notch TIPA for sure

Drinks far lighter than 10+... hopefully there's no haze nor lactose in its future.

I have to be out in Shasta county this weekend. I'm hoping to do some investigation at the source about the current state of hexagenia, I'll report back. It wouldn't surprise me if they went all in on sweet and hazy ipas but damn would I miss their WC takes.

I cannot believe that hexagenia was a poor seller, but they felt the need to change, so who knows..

@unlikelyspiderperson I'll be up that way in a few weeks and I'll shoot my thoughts your way. I'm really puzzled by the Hexegenia recipe change as I never was uber impressed with their hazy offerings.

Hexagenia was the highlight beer of a Far North/Nor Cal trip I took last year. Would be a shame to change it.

Ordered and delivered yesterday was HpB’s Competition and HelloLA IPA’s. It was my first time drinking Competition. I think this may be my new favorite westy from HpB. The last batch of HelloLA cans I got from Windsor was very good. I’ll have to see how this latest cans of HelloLA are later today. It’s nice to see HpB expanding their delivery service to N OC area. The more the hoppier.

I think it’s safe to say that I’m not the biggest El Segundo fan. I don’t dislike them, but the only beer that I routinely drink from them is Mayberry. Right now though, I’m sipping on Grand Hill for the first time, and I find it pretty damn unique. Huge orange citrus with a bit of sharp maltiness. I like it.

Even though I routinely stayed (uh... before pandemic) near El Segundo Brewing, I've never actually gone by their brewery. But I've since tried Mayberry and Power Plant and I'm pretty impressed by those two. I don't even like TIPA, but PP is definitely one of the best ones (maybe #2 of what I've tried, next to PtY?). Next time in SoCal, I'm definitely going to hit them up.

ESBC has and still is one of my favorites as far as west coast ipa. Mayberry is my fav with their other ipas are all good to me. PP is one of the better tipa’s. I don’t do tipas like I use to. One and done for me. Broken Skull is another favorite. Sure they are pretty much straight up west coast without the flair of that other brewery’s put out. When I want a good west coast I go with ESBC & BW.

I'm rarely blown away by ESBC, but I'm never disappointed by them. They make solid WCIPA, but they're not reinventing the wheel or anything

I forgot to mention that I also tried a tallish boy of Modern Times Virtual Future yesterday, and it was a solid Westy.

I'm excited to get several WC IPAs from MT next week. Virtual Future as mentioned, plus Max Nelson and Mega Fortunate Islands.

Just opened my 2nd HpB Com·pe·ti·tion can. Maybe Timbo should of been my first in this ridiculous heat. If I had a fresh Timbo can for sure. This is 2nd choice for now. Got some Iron Butterfly for background noise. No not Iron Maiden. That’s next. Cheers y’all.

I liked El Segundo’s Two 5 Left when they made it. Haven’t seen that in years.

Same... It's one of my favorites from ESBC. I think they released a batch last year or something but I don't know why they don't brew it more often
