Given your post I grabbed a bottle at a local grocer (i normally don't look in the bomber area frequently anymore). I don't want to bias your review, so I'll save my take until you've had a chance to sample and review it.

Well I heard they still have dedicated GR taps that go underground, straight to the brewery so whaddya gonna do? OK, just kidding but GR made Tony a lot of money. He's not a dick.

For anyone who somehow doesn't know, the LA IPA Fest is a WEST COAST IPA competition. The brewers are there and serve as the judges. The fans get to vote, too, but for a separate award.

It's a really great opportunity to rub elbows with the folks who make some of the finest WCIPAs around. I've gone every year except one. I will be in line early on Saturday, as usual for this event. Hope to see you guys there.

Thanks. I ended up giving it a 4.3. Pretty solid. Probably would be even better on tap.

For my palate and preferences at roughly 30 days old it felt really Simcoe dominant. The Mosaic and tropical aspects were really faint. I don't recall that quick a profile flip previously, so maybe crop variability. Still tasty delicious West Coast, nonetheless.

I agree with you. Although I don’t think my palate is refined enough to be able to discern all the hop flavors. I’m getting better though. Single hip ipas help the learning curve.

First time I'm hearing about degradation of Union Jack. If anything, I find Firestone Walker beers to be really consistent (except that year they farmed out Parabola to Boulevard - undrinkably disgusting).

    Maybe your tastes shifted?

So I just tried Offshoot (The Bruery’s IPA leg) It’s Gonna Be Fine... Ho-Ly-Crap!!! Everything I like in a West Coast, and very well executed!

Per HPB's social media, North Park Beer Co won with their new WC IPA Sorta Mostly Dead. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but having consumed a lot of NPBC's IPA, I'm not at all surprised it won.

Currently at the local joint. And when in doubt, order a Blind Pig - one of the King’s of West Coast IPA’s.

Agreed, swung by yesterday and I'm seriously impressed. Walked out with quite a few cans, both for myself and to ship up to homies in the Bay Area. I really hope they rebrew and refine this one, I'd love to see it as part of their regular rotation.

Good, their haze is routinely meh. But they make great WC IPAs.

1UP is so good, too. West Coast DIPA made with Mosaic. Mosaic hops are the cheat code to my heart.
