For those of us in Chicago who are fans of the classic west coast IPA, where do you typically turn to?

Having the recent Beachwood drops of Citraholic and Amalgamator reminded me that I don't have a go-to for the style. Would love to hear any suggestions!

    NvU for imperial ipas.
    Snaggletooth & Anti Hero
hunt down some revision ipa if you want to try a new brewery to the area. It’s fantastic.

Fresh Daisy Cutter is as good an example of west coast pale as you’ll find.

    Great style...my #1 - Lexical Gap.

If it qualifies....Working for the Weekend is also great.

Daisy cutter nor anti hero will quench your thirst like those beachwoods. Half acre put out Kina a few months back, but not a regular. 2nd shift and bear temple put out one as well. Rev and hop butcher had a collab. All were fabulous. I'm in the same boat as you, would love to have easy access to those beachwoods.

NvU is always in my fridge for when I'm craving the style. It's really hard to beat when you're looking for a big, citrus-y IPA with a great, bitter hop presence.

Go to Half Acre, try their IPAs, or for the love of ol' school west coast money, at least their Space IPA. You're welcome in advance. Love from Colorado

also, Corridor's Wizard Fight IPA is west coast style for my taste, and still was reasonable when last I had it at 6.2%
(Correct me if I'm wrong Chicago-dawgs).

+1 for Spiteful's DIPA (Working for the Weekend). Shit is dope.
That and Goddamn Piegon Porter (and all variants of Pigeon) are regular mail orders for me out here in CO.

I’m back at Beer Temple yet again for more Beachwood including Amalgamator which I have a few left at home.

I agree, Chicago has excellent beer, but WCIPA is one of the few styles where it is had to find great Chicago equivalents. @eppCOS ‘s suggestion for Spiteful is also my suggestion, Working for the Weekend and still available 10/9 Bike Messenger are my favorite local pours. Will make one more trip to Spiteful next week, hopefully it’s still available.

Snow-birding out West for a good chunk of Winter, Beachwood is definitely on my radar.

I haven’t seen the dates yet, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Alesmith IPA available in cans (base on a post by The Beer Temple)

I will have to get some. If there's one thing NE IPAs have reminded me, it's how much I love a damn good west cost IPA. The beer that made me first love beer.

I will second this. Damn good WCIPA. Also had a Marz Synthesizer Showroom WCIPA this week and it was excellent.

Is it just me or have Hopewell's IPAs taken a huge step forward in the past 8 or so months? I remember being lukewarm/meh at best, but the ones I've had lately have been pretty solid.

I guess I’ll have to revisit their stuff. I used to go because I loved nearby and it is dog and kids friendly. But I never thought their beer was anything special. My favorite hoppy beer was probably Land and Sea Dept. But it’s been nearly a couple years since I’ve been there.

I haven't had any of their IPA's in quite a while, but Hopewell's lagers have been excellent. Per Diem, Get Set, Foudre Pils, Dorkmunder, First Lager are all worth drinking.
