Staying out near the Crabtree Valley Mall and wanted to get some local recommendations for dinner some of the nights this week.

You are close to several good bottle shops; Ridgewood Wine & Beer, Bottle Revolution and Barley & Vine.
I am not sure of decent dinner options (with good beer) near Crabtree. Downtown Raleigh is not very far, I would make the trip downtown for food and good beer.

Hit the Red Monkey Tavern at the mall last night for dinner and they had some good stuff. Decent food and 12 local taps. It was a shame that all the beer was served in pint glasses though.

It's worth the 10 minute trip downtown to Flying Saucer or Busy Bee. They will have much better selections and appropriate glassware.

It's a rarity to find proper glass ware, just about everyone puts stuff in shaker pints which I really don't like. Only Sessions in Greensboro routinely uses the proper glass ware, and each keg is independent and served at the correct temp for the style, Alan is a fanatic and they're mostly German and Belgian brews. The Pour House in Greensboro uses tulips for the stouts and BA stuff as well.

We have a Saucer in KC, and it's great. Does the food suck at this one as much as it does in Missouri? I hate that they have such awesome beer and such mediocre food.

If you are not a fan of the food at the Saucer I would suggest The Raleigh Times, Busy Bee, Tylers, Draft or Woody's all downtown and all on the route of the free R-Line.

I agree it's worth the cab ride downtown as it'll just be one fare then you can walk to several of the places already mentioned. If you do stop by Busy Bee ask for me (Woody) or Chris!

Busy Bee is awesome for grub and brews and Raleigh Times is overpriced and has a limited selection. The Saucer has always been a good spot but their selection is limited in the rare beers as compared to Busy Bee.

    +1

And then walk over to whole foods and get a bite to eat.
