Westbrook 2016 Releases

The more I see strange ways breweries try to handle releases and the ways people try to skirt limits, I always appreciate how Bell's does their releases. Dead silent, its on the shelf and there is a limit. No fuss, no tickets, and locals always get the best chance.

 

I agree, now interestingly Westbrook hs done this for a number of other beers (besides BA Cakes) and people on these forums have complained about it excessively. I do feel like with any brewery no matter what they choose to do for an ultra hyped beer release they will have a significant portion of folks complaining. I think that most breweries legitimately try to do what they feel is best not only for themselves but also for their customers, and I think Westbrook does that as well. I missed the second BA Cake release so can't comment on that but otherwise I think the releases of all their major beers have gone remarkably well. I actually give them props for pulling it off in this day and age of whale chasers and hoarders.

 

Have feeling this week will be delayed too since this storm could impact much of the eastern seaboard.

Do we expect the tickets to be through BPT? It was a huge mess for Toppling Goliath's MD release, so I would hope other breweries learn from that. I'd love to get some bottles either way.

Also, I'm assuming this won't be distributed like regular cake, correct? I was able to get some regular cake earlier this year from NY, so I'm still on the hunt.

 

Last year they just put it on BPT and didn't really mention it, thus folks not bogging down the site.

Ok, last question. Do you know how many bottles they usually release of this? 500 or so I'd imagine? Thanks.

 

Depends on the year, but I thought bottle counts of BAMC last year were closer to at least 1200.

 

How fast do tickets sell out? Planning on making my first trip out for the release.

Damn so I guess just watch their Facebook feed? Do they post it through BPT?

 

This local is having a couple right now. Lots of chocolate and a nice blend of vanilla and bourbon barrel (Willett). Not as spicy as the red wine on tap.

Yeah it was up for a good bit last year before selling out.

 

You are correct, there was no official announcement of the link, and there was at least 30 minutes to get tickets, as I had plenty of time to let some of my local friends know.

 

Last year tickets lasted 30min or so..

 

No proxies allowed and they generally don't do crowlers/growlers of MC or variants. Although they did do crowlers of Mexican Cupcake.
