Westbrook Can Can Release 9/25

Total Wine of all places had the Bourbon Barrel variant available for growler fills last week. I got a 32oz and thought it was amazing. Nice sweet bourbon and chocolate, maybe a touch of the classic plum from the quad but not much.

Only downside is that it will give you a wicked hangover! I drank 75% of it Saturday night and was hurting in the AM.

Before teh reboot happened, @mikeincharleston said it was the same base quad, but different barrels (I think...don't want to put words in his mouth). He would know.

 

What I'm saying is there was one quad say 10 bourbon barrels and 10 wine (just making up those numbers). It's been aging for years but every once in a while we would pull a barrel and make some kegs. Leave some to keep aging. I guess they finally pulled them all and bottled and kegged them. Just cause they sent it out and didn't call it "can can" doesn't mean it's not the same beer. I'm 99% sure it's all the same beer, but always a chance I'm wrong. Why would they release 2 different ba quads at the same time? Someone please ask on their FB page for an answer.

 

Should be the same quad. I have only seen one quad in barrels there. It just didn't have a name until recently.

 

Had them both this evening. The wine variant is INSANELY good. The bourbon is very bourbon forward but delicious.

 

It's the same quad and exactly as Mike says. But yeah, it's damn good.

I asked that question on Friday, but wasn't given an answer. I did hear that they were only selling 20 cases on Friday. Not sure what they were selling on Saturday or how many were going to distribution.

 

On Facebook Westbrook said no distro.

 

I just checked their FB page and they said about an hour ago that a small amount will go out to distro in kegs and bottles. BTW, the taproom list is incredible today....both Can Cans, Cherry Mexican Cake (crazy good stuff), and their 2nd anniversary Capt. 'Skoons Ballistic Stout (2012). I'm sad I can't make it out there today (too many kiddo ball practices).

 

I guess they didn't sell out over the weekend and that's why some bottles are going into distro.

 

yeah my buddy was able to pick me up a couple bottles yesterday!

I can't even imagine what the shipping would be on that box!
