I was looking at hitting them up on our way down to TBBW and Huna Day this year, but their site and Google says they close at 6PM Saturdays, and aren't open Sundays. I know sometimes the internet isn't always up to date, but is this still truly the case? If so, I don't think we'll be able to make it, with all the other stops we'd planned on our drive. I'm also really curious why the early close, and why they aren't open on a Sunday. At least coming from Ohio it seems really strange for a brewery to not stay open all weekend, especially a really popular one.
That info is correct. No idea why they close so early on Saturday. They are open til eight Tuesday-Friday.
My wife and I are doing the same thing, except we're flying into Charleston on Friday, staying in Charleston til Monday morning, spending Monday night in Savannah, then driving down to Tampa on Tuesday. We've got Edmund's Oast, Charles Towne Fermentory, Common House, Revelry, COAST and maybe Ghost Monkey or Holy City planned. Are there any other Charleston breweries we should be visiting?
Two Blokes is near Westbrook and worth checking out. Munkle is me, near Revelry and does some good Belgians.
Make sure you hit Edmunds Oast AND Edmunds Oast Brewing. Two seperate locations. Fermentory and Rev are a must. I would hit Two Blokes over Ghost Monkey but they're so close you might as well hit both!
Does Westbrook always have a cellar bottle menu available for on site consumption (vintage Mexican cakes, etc)? I remember seeing one a couple years back, but nothing is listed on the website.
Yes - it isn't listed on their website, but once you arrive they have printed cellar menus sitting on the tables/bar. I was there two weeks ago and they still have plenty of great bottles in the cellar from the past few years of BA Cake releases to rare variants of their other beers (e.g., BA CocoNaughty).
Definitly Edmunds Oast brewpub (EO exchange is next door, its a bottle shop), Charles Towne and Common House. Revelry has a new location (1 block away from brewery) called the Hold that only does sours, havent been but supposed to be cool. IMO Westbrooks hours suck because they dont care and distribute majority of their beer. Opposite of charles towne and other smaller breweries in town. The taproom also is not cool.
Which two blokes are you referring to, and why are they worth checking out? Do they have some popping biceps, or maybe nice smiles?
