Price was a bit jacked up, thats without a doubt. BA Abraxas was $30 when it released this year. I can easily see the BA Cake in the $20-$25 range tho. That is typical among many similar barrel aged beers. The ingredients, the actual barrels, and the additional labor required before, during, and after aging these brews=$$$$.

You also get a varying amount of lost product in the Devil's Share and Angel's Cut

So to the people that made it out today, what variation was your favorite? Did anything stand out to you? I'm especially curious to hear about the MC aged in tequila barrels - I've never tried a beer like that.

Guys, guys, lets all get along now. The release was smooth and everybody who went had a good time. If you didn't go and you are local then you can't complain about not getting any this time because there was so many extra left after people got their first allotment. You should have went. However, the brewery did do some things they said they wouldn't and didn't do some things they said they would.

    Namely,
    1) No lining up on the brewery property before 6. There were people who had been there since 10:30 the previous night.

2)They would call out the numbers on the wristbands for people to come up and get their allotment. Didn't happen.

3)they weren't going to open the taproom until 12. Not sure when they did but when me and some friends gor back at 12 the tequila was already dry. (Still got to try coffee, cherry, and db on tap so not really complaining)

    4) No outside beers allowed on property. There were some people walking around with hunahpus and other beers.

Regardless of those things, which really didn't bother me too much, it was a freaking great time.

    5) According to some, the locals were not treated as royals. However, about 75% of the crowd was out of towners and we got to go through more than once thanks to the lack of dedication from said locals.

Sarcasm aside, Westbrook kicked ass today and we should all be grateful that a release like this went so smooth. Southern hospitality be damned!

mlhyatt, completely agree with you. I don't think the not calling of numbers effected much except how long it took to get your allotment, which still was not bad. I was shocked when I crept through the woods at 3 AM and their were people under the tent but you bet as soon as I saw that I got in there and set up. There were police patrolling the streets all night but nobody on the actual property.

I think Morgan was just going with the excitement of the day and that's why some things did not happen exactly as they were scheduled to. Completely understand being upset that Tequila was already tapped when you arrived. I do know that the guy carrying around the Huna gave that to the owners as a gift. There we're also definitely people doing bottle shares before wristbands were handed out but ehhhh, what can you do? Nobody was acting a fool.

Regardless, I hope you had a good time as I know I did!

And we can debate when and how they should release the Cognac and Pritchard's Chocolate in 2015.
