I've never heard of any of these places. any valley BAs been to any of these? http://www.lamag.com/digestblog/westlake-village-beer/
None of them are making super hyped pastry stouts or hazy IPA's so they don't get that hype. Which may or may not be a good thing. But what they do is make pretty good regular beers. I personally like five threads the most. I wouldn't drive out of the way for them, but if I was in the neighborhood, it is worth a stop. Also, there is a Fig Mountain within a half mile.
Haven't been impressed with any of them. Better beer coming from Institution, Casa Agria and Topa Topa for Ventura county. If I find myself in the area and wanting a beer without coming down the grade or going into LA Bottle and Pint taproom in Newbury Park usually has the best stuff. Thousand Oaks is getting a new brewery soon called Tarantula Hill Brewing and Im looking forward to trying them out.
Westlake Brewing is largely forgettable but I enjoyed Five Threads in the times I've been there. Solid selections, friendly staff and a pretty nice taproom that you want to hang out at it for a stretch.
Oh nice, their IPA's are solid and Ive sent out a few bottles of the BA coconut vanilla stout and people have really enjoyed it.
That's not the case cause I see haze and big stouts on their Instagram pages-tap lists. Its the fact that they're way out in the boondocks and there's over a hundred breweries in the southland now.
