Should be some left this morning for those looking for it. There were about 50-60 in line when they opened and the have about 200 bricks.
Yeah, it wasn't too busy. I was 13th in line and I got there at 6:15am. It was incredibly calm and organized, although some people did go back in line to grab another brick.
They sold out just after 9. Lucky I was there earlier. I heard a lady walk up to the counter and said "do you still have that special beer?" - "This is the last one"
Did the Perfect Pour get any? They always have such great prices when it comes to specialty beers, I would have to think they're already sold out, assuming they got some in. (sarcasm definition: cutting language: remarks that mean the opposite of what they seem to say and are intended to mock or deride)
I saw these other great deals when walking through there yesterday: 4 pk BCBS $35 Parabola $30 Sucaba $30
With the gouging that Perfect Poor and Victoria's are noted for attributed to 'howard county pricing' - I shop at the Trader Joe's two doors down from PP and noticed their prices are the same as the Pikesville Trader Joe's, perhaps only spirits are hiked in Howard County? Or is it the abundance of monied fancy boys in that area lends itself to the grog gouging??
None of the above; it's because they can. Someone asked perfect pour why they're so expensive onelce, and were told it's because of the increased.rent of "technically being in Columbia, MD" There is a bottle shop literally just 3 miles or so away that is way more reasonably priced. They get some good stuff in, too. Its a circular issue. The pour has all the rare crap, so their sales are good, so they get preference from distributors. Actually, I would not be shocked if they were using some of that over-market cash to bribe distributors. How else do they get such a huge leg up?
And they must be doing really well, they have a second location opening in Ellicott City next year which should further dilute what the other stores get.
Yep. People can complain all they want about their pricing and deceptive advertising practices (myself included), but if it wasn't working for them, then they'd stop. Several years ago I don't think that many people realized just how overpriced their store is, but I doubt that's the case any more. For a lot of folks in Howard County they're very convenient, and undeniably, they have a great selection. Prices tend to high in HC anyway, so my guess is that a little extra over normal retail is something most folks out that way are accustomed to anyway. So they go despite the high prices, and the PP continues to make money and can see no reason to depart from a working stratedgy. A lot of folks on BA have written them off, but all too obviously, we're not having much impact on their bottom line.
Of course; I don't mean to say its not working. Its a great model for business because they control what in some cases is the only supply. And.of.course even as I deride them for their practices I shop there for certain things. The price *is* way over market, even for ho co though. 60$ for a bottle of divine retribution? Most stuff is only a little over market, but they jack prices knowingly on stuff they think will be a beer geek target. They gouge like a mofo, but we keep buying it (myself included) so noatter how unfair it is, it works. I will keep complaining, though, because I disagree with the practices- maybe someday they will listen, or at least all these complaints might deter noons from getting screwed.
I love calling the various stores this morning. They answered the phone, saying "We're out of the Westy 12, welcome to ..." They were suprisingly up beat despite the constant calls they were getting. I guess i'll just have to fly back to Belgium next time I am in dire need. Anyone want to join me?
