I hadn't heard anything about Westvleteren coming to BC, so I was surprised to see that it is available in Victoria today! Apparently Liquor Plus bought all 112 packs destined for Vancouver Island, and you can reserve through their website.

Edit: only $60 for the pack, I think that's cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else.

Compared to anywhere else in North America I think it is. It's a little pricier than the case I picked up in Belgium that cost me 50 Euros (including bottle and crate deposit).

They're about $65 in Vancouver depending on where you get em and what discount/CAMRA membership etc you have. Been here since last week, still lots left. A few stores waited until today 12.12.12 to release em. Good to see they made em out to the island so I don't have to buy another one for my friend over there haha.

Funny I had no idea this was coming. I heard a ton about it coming to the US and Ontario (they're pretty beer starved over there so I'm not surprised it was a big deal).

Wow, people are offering up all kinds of crazy trades for a brick of Westy 12. Tempted to go buy another brick...

And apparently going for $350 on ebay. Ridiculous. This beer is great, but I feel like $60 is already a stretch.

Also, Liquor plus was misinformed, plenty of other places around town have it as well.

$60-70 is a solid price and I think fair value for the beer. $350 is ******ed.... Did you see the guy trying to sell an empty box and 2 glasses?

I agree. I was very satisfied at $60. At $85, I might not have bought it. Anything above that and I'm out completely. It's great beer, but there is also a lot of other great beer out on the market for $6 a bomber.

As long as it's not misleading, I have no problem with someone selling the glasses out of the box.

It's not really an 'empty' box....the seller is circumnavigating the no selling of alcohol rule on Ebay.

I have 7 XII's in stock at the moment, and 8 8's individually. And they're moving very very quickly.

I have 7 six packs of the XII and 8 individual bottle's of the 8 in stock as of this moment. I'm sure more will sell by close though.

Also my opinion on the release is that it has been grossly over publicized. I see this beer falling into the wrong hands, even being bought up by the average bud drinker, and to be honest it's a pretty big piss off. I know i'm going to get phone calls in the next few days from people asking to return the beer because they either didn't like it or they thought it was off... and that's just fucking tragic.

Also the amount of false information by so-called credible journalists is outrageous! Yes, Westvletern HAS been in canada before this release. I've had XII in stock in singles indefinitely, as do I the 8.

And STOP CALLING IT THE BEST BEER IN THE WORLD. That's why so many beer ignorant people keep picking it up!

It's like comparing apples to oranges, you can't put a DIPA up against a Quad and expect an unbiased result, that's not how it works. Best Belgian? Perhaps. Best Belgian Quad? Also, Perhaps. Rarest? Hardly.

I'm so sick of overhyped beer.

(reposted from other thread) Just noticed this one suits my rage better.
