Was this recent? I'm kicking around the idea of ordering some online (go go free shipping) - just so I don't have to go through the hassle of searching for Westvletren 8s/blondes

Yep, they had 12, 8 & Blonde in early January, so not super recent but with all the wooden crates from the brewery lying around, I assume they get it regularly.

Innnnteresting. I will have to ponder on whether or not it's worth it. Bier Tempel is just a couple of blocks from where we're staying in Brussels.

If I get to the answering machine, is it closed?
The website says it's open everyday 13:00-16:00, but half the times I call I get a busy signal and half the times I get to the answering machine.

If I recall correctly the answering machine says that all the lines are busy. It doesn't mean that they are closed.

Cheapest place I saw any Westy bottles in Brussels was 10 Euro. All 3 varieties, but they had far more Blonde and 8 than 12. No idea what the name of the place was, but it was off of Rue de la Montagne when walking toward Delirium Cafe. It's a little quick mart that seemed to specialize in beers.
Had In De Vrede not had any bottles when we went, that was my back-up plan.
If you're just looking to drink some in town, I ran into a couple beer cafes that had it. 12 Euro was the cheapest I saw.

Delices & Caprices I'm assuming, right?

Looking at their photos online, the place I'm thinking of looked like more of a food mart. There are so many little shops around that area - it wouldn't shock me if you could fine 10 Euro Westy at a bunch.

I'm sure @Domingo is right. I doubt D&C would stock it, keeping in mind that resales are extremely gray territory (not sure strictly illegal, certainly against the rarely enforced agreement you make with the abbey when buying the beer). I've also seen it at various beer specialists, tourist-directed or otherwise. Slightly less rare than it once was. I don't perceive a quality drop-off.

Don't think they actively do something about the resale at stores cause prices are even more out of hand there (x4 or even x5 in price) than the second hand websites(x2) altho in de vrede it's x2.-(drinking it there) and i thought around x3 in the shop but not sure.
