I have a box sixer with glasses but most people are wanting to trade singles. For example one friend wants to trade a Bruery Black Tuesday for one Westy, is this a fair trade? This will be my first trade so all the help is appreciated!
Around $15 in limited beers per Westy. For instance maybe 3 BCBS or 2 KBS. Anyone offering you a Black Tuesday for one is being generous.
I could be wrong but if he's trading you a BT for a Westy and a glass I'd say that is pretty even. I've seen the Westy glasses for like $20+
He didn't mention the glass but if he asks for it i'll give it up. What do you guys think about splitting up the six pack? Is it better to trade as a complete set or does it just depend on what's available for trade?
Depends what you are aiming to get. You could offer the whole lot and see if someone can knock out your Wants in one trade or split it up and share the love. Really no right or wrong answer in this scenario in my opinion.
I paid about $100 for the brick last year (year before?) when they were released state-side. Don't know what the current price is. So a BT for one bottle is, indeed, generous. Supply and demand, I guess. But to answer your question, are you gonna drink any or are they just trade bait? NC has a lot of good beer you could offer up, no? I don't think the "complete set" would have any greater intrinsic value, it wouldn't to me. Drink some, it's tasty, and trade some.
right, I doubt the set has too much value. personally I would do a taste test of Westy 12 vs Rochefort 10 and St. Bernadus 12 and then decide if you want to keep the rest (I traded mine after I did!)
bought two sixers when it went live, drank one sixer with friends and the second is for bait, thought I would hang on to it for about a year and hope supply dwindled, plus I got a killer offer for BT. NC indeed has some great beer around, wicked weed probably being the hottest brewery, their thing is really sours which unfortunately is not my thing I've tried many a time but my taste buds either aren't conditioned or are just unaccepting for sours. Also Event horizon, Sexual Chocolate (overrated IMO) and quite a few others. I'm doing a P2P trade with folks I know in NC, not comfortable doing anything other than that right now, so not much I can offer other than westy. Pretty sad been frequenting BA since 2004 and member since 2006 and I still don't know trade value! Haha Anyways thanks for the help and getting me started.
After the first sixer I drank i'll rank them 1 rochefort (still my all time fav) 2 Westy 3 St. bernardus and they're all pretty close.
^^^yes they are. But Westy 12 has a certain panache that makes it trade for more than it's worth IMHO. Get some WW sours and trade 'em, I've heard they are really good and have some coming my way. And go for that BT, it's really good too.
After all opinions I Will definitely go for the BT trade, enjoy your WW!! They have some amazing beer and one kick ass brewery!!!
I know that Westvleteren XII (12/12/12 release) bottles are more pricey than "fresh". Go ahead with your Westy/Black Tuesday trade.
