But it is only that low since they are using Metric units. It is much higher in English (US) units!

    Cheers!

As a child, I was a frequent beer wetter. No longer, thankfully.
    (You're welcome).

Blah Blah Blah IPA has the best can label I've seen in a long time. I literally laughed out loud reading it. It's a tongue-in-cheek joke that was long overdue. As others have said this "wetness factor" is just part of the joke. I tried to find a good photo of the can label and the best I could find is below, but I think you'll get the idea. Jokes aside, it's a good beer anyway, so just go buy it yourself.

I really hope AB-InBev thinks this is serious, and comes out with "Bud Wet".

I have. They're polite and personable but leave the impression of a politician's spokesperson reading off the party line points sheet.

I'm pretty sure it's the chance of wetting yourself, if you drink 19 you're pretty guaranteed 100% chance of pissing one's self.

I barely ever buy nationally distributed IPAs anymore that aren't made by Sierra Nevada, and I can't remember the last time I bought 21st Ammendment anything, but this thread, the clever humor, and the price ($12) got me to pick up a 6 of this.

Pretty damn good beer, although it could be a bit wetter. Given the price I'll definitely buy it again if it can manage to stay fresh on the shelves beyond the initial rollout.

There's a fair bit of attempted humor in beer labeling/marketing, but more often than not it doesn't seem to land (although I'm a guy who likes the "Brown Note" cans so what do I know?). Cheers to whoever was behind this one.

I've called and emailed about their marooned on hog island because I wanted to try it and I have a shellfish allergy. It's an oyster stout. All I needed to know was if it was shells only or the whole oyster. They never got back to me.

I didn't exactly have high hopes considering my E-mail is basically trolling them back, but damn, that's messed up. Certain breweries just seem to NEVER respond to E-mail or phone calls, and at that point, why even bother having a "Contact Us" section on your website?

Totally, my experience is about 50/50 with e-mail. Half respond, half go into oblivion.

True. What it came down to was I got the number of the brewers office whatever that is. And left a message saying I'd like to try it. But I'm allergic to oysters. If it's brewed shell only, then it's OK for me just not the meat. No answer. I would have bought a case if I liked it and spread word of mouth but it is what it is

Holy shit. They actually responded to my E-mail, and their response is absolutely amazing.

"Thanks for your curiosity. The term "wetness factor" was a term that was created years ago. It’s a made-up term that was started when a group of San Francisco brewers were sitting around drinking beers (as we will) and toying with the antennas on our cell phones (remember those?). I carelessly stuck my extended antennae into the beer and announced to everyone that the Wetness Factor of this particular beer was .0674. The response was "What?” Then the joke caught on and a range was devised to be an arbitrary number from .0845 to - .0432 or something like that. The term gained steam amongst us and before long when evaluating (enjoying) beers we would decree that this beer we were drinking was either “very wet" or "not so wet.”

File the whole thing under it all being tongue and cheek. Like the ‘Blah Blah Blah IPA” which is a comment on the ubiquity of IPAs in the market this is having more fun even if it is an inside joke. My goal was to have the term be part of the brewing lexicon and that maybe brewing scholars would talk about it. I guess this is the best next thing.

I hope that explains it Jordan. I have another term "sparklelhorse” that I’ll tell you about on another day. It’s a German term.

    Cheers,

    Shaun"
