First, the important question, anyone seen any Insanity on the shelves in the Twin Cities yet? Released in February & I haven't sniffed a bottle yet. Secondly, & far more disturbing, a local beer guy told me yesterday that their distributor is discontinuing Weyerbacher. Please, no! Just want to know if anyone in the industry, or who knows someone who knows someone, can verify or deny if Weyerbacher is still going to be available in Minnesota. It's one of my favorite breweries & I'd be bummed if they pulled out entirely. But it would explain the missing Insanity, Heresy, & Slam Dunkel.
I have not seen the Insanity this year, and I really hope that what you heard isn't true. I am a fan of Weyerbacher as well, and feel like it got lost in the shuffle of all the new breweries that rolled into town the last few years. I don't get the sense they are moving a lot of product here based on the general lack of buzz, so I have been concerned about how long they might last for awhile now. I think they do a great job of putting out high quality beers at reasonable prices. The Insanity 4-packs, Quad 4-packs, Tiny and Blasphemy 750s for 8-9 bucks... None of these qualifies as my absolute favorite, but all are great values that I pick up when they roll through. They need to hurry up with their brand/packaging redesign that has been in the works for over a year now. I really think their look hurts their ability to get noticed on the shelf (pure speculation and opinion).
Just spoke to Weyerbacher's distributor and they are not leaving MN. In fact, they just got a load in including Insanity. Crisis averted.
