When I look at some people's cellars on here and see some of the beers I always wonder how they get them. What is you "5 degrees of separation" from your whale? Aside from outright buying it (i.e. went to DL day and got a BVDL).

I really try to keeps my trades limited to the original purchaser of a beer. As I've always said I believe beers being traded across the country 5 times is not good for the beer and may be the prime reason for variation in highly sought after bottles (think CBS)

Agreed, but if you're doing an ISO do you always specify that and if it's unknown that someone got it in a trade do you back out? I'd like to know how people get 10 assassins or pictures of 2 - 3 CCKs that aren't even in that same state they release them.

Mules, pay sites, trading. I now find that any quantity of bottle I get beyond 2 winds up getting lost in the cellar. So, I don't want quantity of anything anymore. At some releases, the people at the brewery look at me kind of strange when I don't max out. Can't remember the last beer I took max of at a release. Might have to be Voodoo since you only got one of most of them

I agree and disagree. For things like IPA's , especially IPA's like heady topper hat aren't distributed, I think people are fools trading for them with anyone outside the immediate area. Other beers I look at on a case by case basis, but I try to trade with the original purchaser where possible
