I'm pretty sure Molly Stone in Burlingame / San Mateo off El Camino still has a few bottles of Parabola if you're local or still in the area. They did last week. Give them a call and have them hold one for ya... If not I'll work out a $4$ trade with you and meet up at Ale Aresenal.

Never had a "whale" in the sense of trying a one-of-a-kind beer but on tap I've had Abraxas, Fremont KDS, and BCBS in Seattle while I lived there. For anyone looking for a great beer bar in Seattle you must try Beveridge Place Pub. They're always good for something rare at all times.

The day Dinner is distributed, they have that on tap at a few bars in the Portland area. Pretty nice being able to relax in a beer pub with a super fresh glass of Dinner.

Cable Car 2007 and Bourbon Vanilla Dark Lord are my two legitimate whales (per the white whales list) I've had on tap. Both were at 20th anniversary parties for renowned bars.

That Cable Car was so good it got me to start rating beers as a way to commemorate the experience I had drinking it.

I know during the Stanley Cup playoffs, Chicago was offering different varieties of bourbon county during home games. With each progressive step-up in the playoff format, the variety would get "better". Finally having Prop on during the Finals!!! I REALLY want to know how much a glass of "arena-beer" Prop goes for.....$15? $20?

Cool post, OP. To me, this is the most fun part about craft beer- walking into a bar and unexpectedly finding something you've been dying to try on tap. For me (off the top of my head), I've had Prairie BOMB!, BCBS, Sump, Lunch, Terrapin French Toasted WnB, Firestone 18, and Parabola just by showing up at a bar at the right time.

Cost me $9.25 per 22 ounce Bud Lights for our last place Buffalo Sabres so I'd say your estimate of $15-20 may be low

Since I haven't been able to buy any Assassin bottles, I was able to try it on tap last fall alongside Surly BA darkness. There was also KBBS at a bottle share during the same event. Have been able to try KBS, Todd the Axe Man, and Bomb! at the local Pub. CBS and King Sue were also found on tap within a reasonable drive.
