So I start my afternoon with a stop in at a local beer store to pick up some goodies, a bottle of wine, cheese and meat. I walk in and immediately see the latest Short's variety pack, which I have been anticipating for quite some time due to Chocolate Wheat and Honey Badger being included. After finishing my shopping I see the beer manager of the store come around the corner and I make sure to say hi because it had been a few weeks since I had seen him and we are on a first name basis. After discussing the most recent beers that we had sampled over the last couple of weeks, Hopslam and Griffin's Claw to name a few, he brings up the fact that he was still a little disappointed that he had sold all of his Brooklyn Black Ops a few weeks back before I had a chance to purchase one ( I came in a few minutes before he sold his last one). Now this man has taken care of me countless times already and if anyone is indebted to anyone it is I to him, but he mentions that he would like to make it up to me and asked if I would be interested in a Bramble... I immediately say of course. He walked into his back room and comes out with a Bramble Rye and charged me $10.99 and simply says it is beer karma coming around to me. I was more then gracious for his kind gesture and this will be the first time I will actually get to try Bramble.

To put the cherry on the sundae of my amazing beer day, a great BA sold me his two Michigan Winter Beerfest tickets to my wife and I because he couldn't make it at face value!!! I was floored at the opportunity because I know how hard it was to get them this year and I wasn't able to purchase them when they went on sale and I have seen what the prices are like on the secondary market.

To recap, Shorts variety pack 4.0, Bramble Rye and 2 tickets to Winter Beerfest... Has to be one of the greatest beer days I have ever had.

Would love to hear if anyone one else has had such great beer karma come there way in such a short time frame as well.

    Cheers!!

A month after 2012 BCBS came out, and I had missed the initial release, I walked into this out of the way liquor store and just was browsing. Now, I didn't know anything about BCBS before joining BA. Once here I read the hype, the debate, etc. I wasn't even sure if I would like a BBA stout; never had one before. Anyway, I was checking out the selection there when he asked if I was looking for anything particular. I said "no" and kept browsing. He said from behind the counter, "I have Bourbon County Stout." I said, ( I swear I did) "Merry Christmas to me!" He held up the 4 packs and asked "One or two?" I said "Just one please." It lived up to all I had read about.

It may sound corny, foolish, naive, whatever . . . but I believe in beer karma. It has come through for me in so many ways, looking for Sucks, Hopslam, Bigfoot, etc. I try to pass it on every chance I get. At the liquor store or in trades. It always comes back to you.

I put up a FT: / ISO: looking for Abyss. I missed it this year and have never had it before. A guy replies that he doesn't have any but knows where he can buy one. He's local to me so I say great, I'll buy it off you. He messages the next day that he picked up the Abyss, and would I be interested in a BCBS Backyard Rye he also bought. Of course I bought them both. He was a really great guy and we plan on doing some bottle shares in the future. As for the Abyss and Backyard Rye, I'll be sharing them with friends on Thursday.

I recently became good friends with the local beer manager who tends to the beer section at a grocery store right around the corner from me. I walked in one Saturday and he asked me if I want to crack a few beers after he gets off of work. Of course I said sure. So he proceeds to open my first Heady Topper and Alpine Nelson right there. I was floored. Since then, he has shared Oude Tart, Charactere Rouge, Black Tuesday, Bo and Luke and countless other beers with me. I don't know what I've done to deserve his generosity, but I truly feel lucky to have met such an awesome guy. The beer manager moniker no longer applies. Now he's just my friend.

Its funny that I login to BA right after I have some awesome beer karma of my own! I have a friend who recently moved to GA and he cant get 3 Floyds, and I cant get Sweetwater or Terrapin! We just arranged a trade and I couldnt be happier because I loves me some Terrapin Rye PA and its been years since Ive had one! Great thread!

If someone does you a beery solid always make sure you do one for someone else! It's karma and it's always nice to make someone smile by not ripping them off

I believe over the years I have been "blessed" with "beer karma" so many times I don't even think about it anymore. It's just part of being a real BA and has happened to me because I am always trying to help/share with my fellow beer people. Best thing to do is just be a good person and share beer; you wouldn't believe the karma/irony situations I have experienced.

OP, sounds like you had a nice day, always good to be thankful for those!

I hate stories like this. Beer should be kept on the shelves for all paying customers, not for the ones who make small talk with the employees. Sure, limit the amount that can be purchased, but give everyone the fair shot of seeing that bottle or six pack on the shelf in its natural habitat.

It's like going hunting in a wildlife preserve full of trophy animals. What's the fun in that?

I did that once with a 50cal MG mounted to the back of a truck. It was a ton of fun actually.

OP - nice work! That's a solid beer day.

I think my greatest beerfortune was a friend who wanted to make a trip out to Hershey to see the museum and do a chocolate tasting. Turned out to be the same day that Troegs put out Splinter Gold.

I am sure you will be blessed one day with some equal beer karma and your attitude will be tested.

I have a friend who manages the largest beer store in the state now (they advertise themselves largest in the world). When CBS was released he was merely an employee at their first store, and he knew I couldn't make it to the store for release, and he saved me two bottles. I bought one, and told him to put the other on the shelf and make somebody's day. Would you have told him to put them both back on the shelf? Would you have bought them both? Would you have scolded him for saving something for you? Just curious what you would do in a situation that karma comes around your way, and it isn't you commenting on someone else's situation.

I have found the more generous I am the more beer generosity comes my way.

    Great stories in here.

One of my favorite beer days that I can remember was driving from Middlebury up to Warren on Lawson's day to pick up some Double Sunshine. It was a long drive, dirt roads and all that, and when we got there the store owner told me that they were all sold out. However, I did pick up two four packs of Heady, a Pannepot 2011, Seizoen Bretta, and the Lawson's/Jack's Abby collab, drove back to Middlebury, and had a great night sharing them with some friends I had just recently met.

Idk what it was about that day but not finding Lawson's didn't matter in the slightest. It was great to find some other gems, deal with extremely friendly store employees who weren't at all jaded by yet another walez-hunter, and share my spoils with people who appreciated it.

Not sure if this is beer karma or border karma...

Last Saturday, I was near the Canada/NY border and decided to pop over to pick up some nice craft beers we cannot get access to in my province. I managed to get some Brooklyn Black Ops, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, DFH Bitches Brew, Victory Storm King, Ten FIDY, a Stone Vertical Epic (what the what...why was this still available?) and a few others. All in all the total came to about $200.

Now, legally, since I was not in US for more than 48 hours I could not bring back any of that beer without paying duty at the border coming back into Canada. However, I was prepared to pay the duty which would have been about $45 CDN.

I got to the guard post, declared my beer and the guard looked at me and said "Welcome home...have a nice day"

I was very pleased not to have to pay the duty, and immediately cracked a Westmalle dubbel to celebrate.
