What are you drinking out of?

Beer event (fest, tasting, bottle share), usually the glassware provided
BBQ/pool, usually out of the can
Almost all other occasions, I pour in a glass

I prefer to drink from a glass, but at the beach, tailgates, and other places where glassware isn't appropriate and spillage is a risk, I drink from the bottle or can. I have been known to take bombers to tailgates and drink from a red solo cup, but obviously that's not my first choice.

Recently I made a conscious decision to be less hard core about beer...less chasing, less intense about the right glass, etc. Just trying to take beer back to what it should be, a casual drink for casual occasions. I was getting way too serious about beer.

 

Now a red solo cup is the best receptacle
For barbecues tailgates fairs and festivals
And you sir do not have a pair of testicles
If you prefer drinking from glass

I usually bring a glass along, because the beers I generally drink are better poured.

Example, this last 4th of July when we went on the lake, I bought two can-styled glasses (that are the shape of a can made out of glass) to pour my New Belgium Collaboration pack into. I tried a few from the bottle but it wasn't the same. Is it like bringing your own folding chairs when you could have left them at home? Yeah, but yours are just more comfortable when the situation calls.

Actually, a Leinenkugel pint glass in the cabin I've been renting for the week (currently drinking ET Wet Dream)

 

Tulips....not the glass, real ones....it's awful....my beer always tastes of pollen and the smell of summer...

 

Pouring from a growler is always an issue at the pool.

Perhaps a GotD contender, if only this wasn't last summer, eh @Lingenbrau

 

Festivals I use the vessel they provide or my own little pounder glass if allowed. Mostly at home or party I will use the can typically and pour bottles into a glass.

I rarely drink anywhere but home, a taproom, or a craft beer event - all of which provide the glassware. Otherwise a bottle or can. In college we drank quarts, used 64oz pitchers as our glasses, or drank from the tap - which really pissed off the bartenders.

 

Love it! Actually, I'm a fan of it all. Proper, silly, innovative, straight from the source...As long as it's being enjoyed, it's all good! Cheers!
