    - This, my friends, is a very interesting "German Pale Ale". Very complex, and best described by the brewery's own website:

"A German style pale ale debatably does not exist in the craft beer industry. Until now. 3 Nations’ German Pale Ale (GPA) is our experiment turned calling card. We couldn’t be more proud of the way this beer’s enormous citrus, passion fruit, and lemony like aromas blend with a bitterness that gives it a recognizable finish. Plus, the well-rounded malt profile balances out the American hops. That’s right, we used American hops to brew this cross of a German Alt/Koelsch. It’s not blasphemy. Just a revised version of a traditional style, with a little greatness mixed in."

From the moment I popped the can, when it was still arm's length from my face, I could smell greatness. I've never had a beer impress me like that. The brewer's description sells this beer short by not mentioning a few things, like the gentle fullness of the body, the hint of pine on the nose and finish, expert carbonation, and the beautiful pale bronzey color. (My picture doesn't do it justice.)

    < Loving sigh... >

Odell 's peach IPA followed by a 2009 GI Matilda and now on a 2009 Grolesch I was given. The Matilda was awesome and the Grolesch is still drinkable. Still gotta stay up for at least a couple more hours so one more might be in the works.

Finishing with a Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura batch 359. No idea what vintage this is but I know I got it in trade at DLD several years back. Pretty tasty. Probably past it's prime as I don't remember it being quite this sour. Not a drain pour, though.
