Slumming it in the hotel restaurant in Houston, Blue Moon First Peach Ale. It's not every day you get a beer that tastes like peaches.

I've heard good things about this and it doesn't disappoint. Very flavorful APA...beautiful color too.

    Whoa...seven pages on a Monday...cool!

After work, mowed some of the jungle lawn that should be dead and brown by now. Put up a short section of fence to keep the hounds in the back yahd where they belong. One has figured out she isn't wearing her electronic collar anymore. Grilled two strip steaks And a bunch of light green Lebanese squash...if you like zucchini, this stuff will knock your socks off. It's got a nutty flavor to it that I think sets it apart. It also has a local name that I don't remember. Portuguese farmer down the street grows it. Bias cut, good olive oil, salt, pepper, grill me baby.

Just watched the brief WWE tribute to Rowdy Roddy Piper. I do love that movie line...I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum... Back in the days when wrasslin' was fun.

Tonight's beer is Habanero Sculpin from Ballast Point. Grapefruit, floral fruity, burn, repeat. I can understand it's a love /hate thing' but I am in the love camp. Went great with the grilled steaks for sure!

    Drink well and play nice!

This has been sitting in the back of my fridge since January. As I'm drinking it I'm wondering what took me so long.

Second half of last night's Victory at Sea. Not sure a new pic was needed, but it's what I am drinking now, so why not! Cheers!

The hops bring a good amount of orange, the vanilla is pretty understated in both smell and taste- though more noticeable as it warms. Does have a creamy feel. Typically solid effort from Pipeworks and worth a purchase. Not in the NVU or Grouper class, though...

    So.Tier LIVE pale
    [IMG]
I had no intention of posting this, but damn, it poured so beautifully, pillowy head, combo aromatics of orange/lemon with sharp floral tones. I had to. Thing is, my years ago dislike for this since it replaced (in a way) Phin&Matts (my favorite pale at the time), has lingered. I think LIVE comes very, very close to a great pale, except that the muted citrus, together with the muted sharpness, make one kind of underwhelmed at the great balance of body here. There's a lightness in the flavors, but a watery heaviness to the whole. It doesn't match up. They need to amp up the light flavors, or else accentuate the caramel/spiciness and forget the rest. Either/or. Not a tad of both. I hope those that try it are able to get a fresh version where the aromatics show up. Nice "everything" pale at that.
Considering the underline above, I'll have to go here:

Don't hate Monday -- it's just the first day of the rest of your life.

Thanks for that. A friend of mine has two bottles and is bringing them over this weekend. I always look forward to new beers from Pipeworks. They swing and miss at times, but it is always interesting.

My sister had a boy this afternoon, so I guess that makes me an Uncle. Probably wont see him til Christmas when the whole family gets together down in Ohio. She lives in MO, and that's a bit far away. Both of my parents flew/drove out there. It was a planned c-section since there were a few issues in the last couple weeks, so that was partially a good thing so they could be down there.

    Reviews:

Good standard American pale ale. Aromas and flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate caramel/toasted bread malt flavors and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness; with a smooth finish with balanced creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Good malt/bitterness balance while still remaining hop forward in flavors. Pretty standard stuff, nothing new or original; but definitely tasty and enjoyable.

Very nice saison. Aromas and flavors of lemon, orange, pear, apple, light banana/bubblegum, pepper, clove, toasted biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate balancing earthy/spicy yeast finish; with a smooth and fairly crisp finish; with light bready creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. A more balanced approach with the grain bill here, making this very balanced between biscuity malt and yeast ester flavors. Very enjoyable and very drinkable.

A really delicious and pretty traditional tasting English IPA. Still pretty damn fresh with a 5/22 bottle date, and only 5 bucks. Aromas and flavors of bright grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and piney hops; with moderate caramel/toasted biscuit malts and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pear/pineappley English yeast ester notes intermingle with the whole deal, more prominence as it warms; but never overdone with good overall restraint. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitter finish; with a very smooth and moderately sticky hop mouthfeel with light creaminess. No overly aggressive bitterness or cloying hop notes; while still remaining very hop forward in flavors despite the darker malt presence. I seriously wonder why people don't change the style on the review database when it's wrong, I always seem to be the one doing it lol. Really enjoyed this one.

Agree. I'm a big Pipeworks fan. Even when they miss, they rarely miss by much. Looking forward to trying Wing It, which was tough to get. Can't remember the last time I had anything with Bergamot juice, ahem....
