Hey again, BA's! Almost 10 here in getting-hotter NOVA & inexplicably this is the only brew that I'm not saving for NBS that is currently at a drinkable temp:

Good morning, BAs! Alice in Chains last night was kick-ass. I have no (usable) photos of the event, and I'm sure no one cares to see the Guinness-in-a-plastic-cup beer consumption at the event, either.

So instead, I'm just going to move on to my drug of choice this morning.

It's no Peche Mortel, but it's still a damn good brew.

And some Alice, naturally. Cheers and enjoy the weekend!

One of my top favorite gose of the year. Flavors of big tart cherry, lemon, lime, green apple, wheat, cracker, coriander, sea salt, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice fruity/acidic tart finish with balanced cherry and fruity yeast complexity; with balanced salinity and acidity in the mouthfeel as well. Big robust flavors for the ABV. Very drinkable. Anderson Valley is my go-to gose, but this would replace it if it wasn't seasonal. I am going to stock up next year. Was only able to grab a couple 4 packs after I initially reviewed it.

My go-to session Pumpkin ale, super fresh tasting. Big robust flavors of pumpkin, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and clove; with balanced biscuit and light caramel malt sweetness. Moderate balancing earthy spice bitterness on the finish. As far as a locally available 5% pumpkin ale it really doesn’t get better than this one. They are rumored to be bottling the Pumpkin IPA this fall, looking forward to that one. Griffin Claw VERY rarely ever lets me down. All of the waxed bomber releases have been very impressive as well.

One of my numerous go-to American porters. Big flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, and light smoke/char malts; with some moderate herbal/piney hop flavors. Balanced herbal/roast bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel with some light hop and roast malt stickiness. Always awesome and a classic tasting American porter to style.

Over 4 months old and still amazing. Huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, and pine; with light-moderate honey/bready malt balance; and a moderately sticky/resinous hop finish with light creaminess. Big pine/citrus rind bitter finish. Great malt/bitterness balance; with plenty of juicy hoppiness. A bit more malty right now with less aggressive bitterness than the super fresh stuff; but I honestly am preferring this a bit more even though my initial rating is with a super fresh batch. I will gladly buy another 4 pack if they still are around when I finish this pack. It holds up extremely well, just like pretty much all SN IPAs.

Good morning. One of the perks of traveling, non work related: Beer in the AM. Polished off some French Toast down stairs in the hotel restaurant. Crawling back in to bed to watch some HBOgo and sip this one down.

The GF hates me right now. We're in Fayeteville, Ar. for a wedding...she's in it. So I'm relaxing, enjoying my morning while she's busting her (hungover) ass to get ready. One more thing about Arkansas - prairie beers just sit on the shelf here, and they're relatively cheap (Bomb! 6.99 vs. 8.99 in Dallas).

Saturday coffee beer, one of the reasons to love the weekend. Decided to pour separate beers for the GF and me. These are related, of course, by the many comparisons between the two. I wanted to throw (formerly 3) Brothers Smooth Sailor in as well, but a bomber on top of these two heavy hitters seemed unnecessary.

The GF doesn't like the reindeer games, but she confused the two. I knew them too well to confuse them, I thought (but in my test I was not nearly as sure as I thought I would be!). Warmth does bring the differences out more. To me, the VaS is a more cocoa chalky feel, and the coffee holds as it warms. The 4Beans is smoother, less coffee astringent, and the flavors meld a little better. GF enjoyed the 4Beans abut more - like Big Pooh; I lean towards the VaS slightly, at least for a morning beer.

    Cheers, all!
