    Up again early (3am Friday morning). Starting off with an IIPA from Renaissance Brewing Company, Malborough, NZ - "M.P.A. (Malborough Pale Ale):

    Earthy Kiwi hops present as dank and a little oniony. Some citrus here too, but long lasting earthy bitterness. I'm begining to warm up to these earthy flavors.

    Lovely, warm sunny day yesterday so we drove up to Murwai Beach/Regional Park on the west coast, north of Auckland. Stunning sea vistas and home to a colony of nesting Gannets:

    Realizing now that the Wood Burner I had last night, while not a bad decision, might have not been the smartest.

    Hallertau Brewing's 2014 "Porter Noir", aged in Pinot Noir barrels and 6.6%:

    Black with clear ruby see through; copious khaki head:

    Red wine and oak nose and taste. Subtle chocolate malt notes as liquid continues to warm.

    Dry red wine/oaky finish. I like!

    Afternoon everyone. I haven't posted in a few days, been really busy. Spending the day and evening at my parents in beautiful Western Maryland. Going to try and get my bow shot in for archery season. Yes I am a redneck woman. Sipping on this right now while I catch some rays :sunglasses:.

    Helped out a sweet little old lady out the other day and she rewarded me with some home-cooked beef, collard greens, and corn bread. Corn bread didn't last long enough to make it to the plate. Decided to crack open my last Strawberry Shorts Cake to go with.
