A Friday off...it's time for lunch.
Can't sleep...may as well do a few reviews and have another lager...
Awesome day at work (Abandon Brewery).
Forgot I even had bought this on vinyl sometime in the last two years. Figured it was a good day to open it and play it for the first time. And my first four pack has convinced me it's always a good day for this beer. It's gotten better each time I've had it.
My favorite song off the album, one of their best.
Bale Breaker Bottom Cutter
\m/ HORNS UP FRIDAY \m/
Well let's get at this....
Starting early, 'cause I want to dammit!
This is slowly creeping up mah list as a huuuuuge favorite! Soooo tasty!
Making it a little easier dealing with these dumb sunsabitches from work.
Hoping the rest of my day goes by quickly!!
Cheers Fridee Fakirs!!
Thanks @Ozzylizard for this trade, this guy is a stand-up BA'er. Not your fault for this Stout's fail
Unfortunately it failed to meet my expectations for a RIS.
3.48/5 rDev -11%
look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.25
Appearance : Jet black motor oil colored body, both out of the bottle and into the globe snifter. The head is about a finger but dies quickly to a beige ring. Opacity is of course 100%. Lack of head knocks it down a quarter point.
Smell : Made sure to pour this in a snifter so I could get the full effect. Mostly toffee and burnt malts, alcohol fuel and peanut, prune, singed black licorice...maybe a hint of rich Swiss chocolate.
Taste : It starts with a watery buzz, followed by a pinch of cooca, peppermint, roasted malts, peanut hulls, prune skin, and then more water/nothing. The vast majority of this flavor profile is like drinking alcoholic water. It's washed out, not well mixed, and just plain off.
Mouthfeel : Watery, especially for a Russian Imperial Stout. Some light buzz accompanies the feel which if it weren't there would feel like Aquafina. A slight dryness finishes out the swallow.
Overall : This was not a very good stout, and a piss poor representation of a Russian Imperial Stout. Is it drinkable? Yes. But only because of the watery nature and the tight carbonation. I have never had a worse RUSSIAN Imperial Stout. Fail.
Trying a new fish beer from these guys today! Not very impressed by this one, but then again I don't really like beta fish too much ether. Actually thought I got lucky and got a crimson snapper at 1st glance lol. I do have to say I do enjoy the taste, kinda sourish in a way from the raspberry puree, but cant taste any actual raspberry flavor till the very end of each sip. Definitely an interesting beer nonetheless
Two Brothers will be in my bar nauti knots bar and grille off of lake bluff tonight with atom smasher oak aged oktoberfest and wobbel ipa on draft. Buy the beer and you get to keep the special glass it comes in. Good deal $5 for atom smasher and $4 for wobbel ipa!
Is that a 15?
Great poolside beer on a Friday!
Round Guys Debaser double IPA with lunch
I went to the German Fest at Max's and all I got was this Bottle
This is on another level!
Nice lunch beer.
Enjoying this very fresh and tasty Gone Away from Half Acre f/k/a Heyoka, f/k/a Senita. To paraphrase Juliet, a beer by any other name would taste as sweet! Who cares what the name is-- you can litigate all you want, but good beers will always be good no matter what you call them (though Gone Away is not the most riviting name ever!). Happy Friday, BAs!
New labels look sweet. Same delicious beer!
Eventually it will just need to be renamed: Good Shit
Revolution Mosaic Hero.. awesome stuff.. cheers!
How does it get there so fast? Is there a pneumatic tube between Illinois and your house? Or maybe it's this:
Tart, flat and Funky...
Cheers to the weekend BA!
New little burger joint opened up in my town also focusing on local VA and NC brews.
Not a bad keg to get a hold of!
Sexual Chocolate on tap. The pride of NC.
Now if I can get a hold of the barrel aged.
Also had a Hardywood/StarrHill collaboration called Sunnidalia. Hoppy hefe. A lot of green grassy floral hops, banana and estery from the Weihenstephaner yeast.
Edit: Needed some music.
It truly is good shit. Hopefully the stupid shit won't submarine the good shit. Always that risk.
I seen that post and was like "Godamn"!
BA lists this as a Russian Imperial Stout, however Weyerbacher's website just lists it as an Imperial Stout; not sure if that matters either or just semantics.
Old Heathen is now retired, most likely because they have Tiny as a full time year round stout; which is much better imo.
Starting with Brooklyn's Post Road Pumpkin (3.72).
We're just another beer out of Boston (or close to Boston), Cheers weekend warriors!
From a great trade with @Brian_Veldhouse .... thanks man! Great pool morning turned into crappy pool afternoon. At least the beers are still delicious!
Founders Spectra Trifecta
Kolsch Style Ale brewed with chamomile, ginger and lemongrass
Man I hate performing, it's why I write lyrics haha. Oh well, may have to sit in for an acoustic set tomorrow. Better practice.
Tarja and Floor
I wish I had the talent to perform. Anyway, enjoy a great beer.
Fuck it, Shelf Beer tastes just like Whalez!
Why this hasn't sold out is beyond me...maybe it's that Price. This brew is banging!
Cheers My Fellow BAs! Have a safe weekend!
