The perfect beer for a gloomy Vegas day. The beer is so dark that it is hard to make out that I am using proper glassware!

My first Ballast Point. Planning a big day today if I don't get too trashed before I leave, lol.

I'm surprised this isn't more popular. It does live up to the label though, "dry, roasty stout".

    Review :

    3.92/5 rDev -0.3%
    look: 4.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

    Holy smokes.

Appearance : A colossal, fluffy mocha colored head on top of a glorious motor oil black body, 100% opaque. Lace is left behind in webs as it recedes slowly like a science fiction film script to 1 finger.

Smell : Dark chocolate, molasses, raisin, and a liberal amount of smoke. Roast malts are a big star here. A slight fermenting plum skunk but that's the only negative odor.

Taste : A little washed out and weak on character, but mostly charred and smoked malt, coffee ground, and the tail end of a black licorice stick. It's a very earthy, dirty, coffee-like flavor with little else to offer. No chocolate, no milk, no anything. Just straight coffee and earth.

Feel : Substantial, but still fairly washed out halfway through. It's pleasantly carbonated, and ends semi-dry with a lingering parch.

Overall : I'm torn whether to go back for more at $1.83/bottle. I've had better stouts on my trek to Seattle so far, so I may just pass on getting more. If I had bought another one I wouldn't be sorry, but this is a basic, no frills straight on earthy American Stout. i'd say overall this was a good experience, just not an outstanding one.

Paid off my wife's car today as well as one of her smaller student loans, so lets get the celebration started before I'm inundated with meetings until 6pm.

Treating me very well on this picturesque autumn day, and I foresee many more bottles of this down the hatch in the coming months

    Cheers!

Nice, I've never actually seen this one around me. Do you see BP a lot in your area? I'm going to parrot the obvious recommendation of Victory at Sea :grinning:

The grass and leaves have been mowed and now it's time to get Elevated at a whopping 816 feet above sea level. This is such a tasty beer that's holding up well for being over a month old. Going to have to kick it into high gear and drink those southwestern goodies down!

Pulled from google but I'm enjoying this with my girlfriend (her choice).

I managed to sneak some away to get a little review in :

    3.85/5 rDev +10.3%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance : Pours an apple juice colored body with 20% opacity, and a nice fluffy creamy white head.

Smell : Lots of blueberries in the nose - blueberry pie, huckleberry, pie crust.

Taste : More of a pale wheat ale flavor with blueberry spice in the background. The blueberries are spent on the nose and by the time the flavor hits there's nothing to analyze. Mostly a pale wheat ale going on here, with hop and wheat, pale malts. Not bad per se, just less fruit than I was expecting.

Feel : Light bodied, easy drinking, mildly creamy, adequately carbonated.

Overall : Would make a great session beer. Not a fan of the lack of blueberries, but the nose was terrific. I imagine if I were to plug my nose and drink the beer, the blueberries would be nonexistent. Good if you like pale wheat ales.

Founders Breakfast Stout. I'm revisiting this beer after not having it for about 2 years and I'm kicking myself for doing so. It's better than 80% of the beer's I've traded for this year.

None, actually. I flew to Seattle/Portland for a week's vacation with the girlfriend, and am picking up all the beer I can that I can't find back home.

So far I've only found the large bottles of Victory At Sea...once we get to Portland I'll see if I can find a small bottle...sometimes those large ones are just too much to handle at once, and I only have so much room to check my bags with. I've bought about $100 of beer so far, probably 2 dozen of them are cans. They pack nicer than bottles  and if the luggage guys throw the bags they won't shatter unless theyr'e punctured. Hopefully.

I haven't seen this one on the East coast. Would love to give it a try as I enjoy Victory @ Sea. I will be on the lookout.
