Having a Bengali from Six Points.

 

Good evening, BA's! I'd been looking forward to sampling a Flanders Red Ale ever since reading about the style. It doesn't appear to be widely available around here, but I finally found one in the DESTIHL Wild Sour Series. Beautiful pour, unmistakable aroma of sauerkraut with some yeast funk, tart and slightly bitter with a dry finish. A solid 4 for a complex and delicious brew.

Well BA's woke up and saw that I had gotten My advocate title So decided on one more new beer to celebrate. I ended up grabbing Braseurs du monde's houbloniere, It was mistakenly added on here as an American IPA but I think of it more as a Generously hopped APA, It is very hoppy, on the nose you get citrus and grassy hops and some caramel malts The Taste is leaning more towards the grassy hops, Some people said it was skunky and I sort of get what their saying but it just tastes overly of cut grass to me. An average APA at best, but I guess if you wanted a lower alcohol IPA it wouldnt be the worst choice. Cheers!

Going local with all Schell's tonight:

 

Flora release day at HF -- aged on blueberries, black currants and raspberries. Pricy at $20 but very tasty. Did a bottle share in the tap room -- the HF buying experience has really improved this year w the completion of the expanded brewery.

 

So far on this 4th night. This was hoppy, but also really salty, def a fail from my perspective.


This totally rocked, will be picking up more.

I have to rant a bit. I'm sure you've all shopped at BestBuy. Well, I'm, currently on my old laptop (thank goodness I kept it) because I bought a floor model Toshiba which was promised with a charger and didn't come with one. No problem, maybe I can get a discount. Nope. That's what it is. Fine. Still I needed a laptop. Got it home, it's loaded with Best Buy bloatware and someone else's settings. Take it in to get it taken off and re-booted. They start the process, I take the computer with, and it crashes. Turns out there's nothing to boot from and it's missing files. I bring it in. Stand there for 45 minutes while they try to figure out what's wrong. Manager comes over and says well they are working on it, if they can't fix it we can give you $10 off another laptop. I said are you kidding me. If they can't fix it, I'm going to be pissed, this is your mistake. Long story short, the laptop is there waiting for a more professional "Geek" to take a look at it. I stood there and wasted my afternoon (from 3 until 5:30 pm) on my day off while they kept promising they were "almost there" only to say come back tomorrow. Now I'm not even sure I'm getting my laptop back. Anybody deal with these jerks before? Can I cry to corporate and get some sort of reimbursement for my time? Anyways, a beer will calm my nerves...

Pours an apple cider vinegar color, 90% opaque. Head is 2 fingers, off-white, leaves tons of lacing behind.

Smells of honey, lemon, mango skins, black cherry, herbs, and roasted malt.

First sip gave me a chunk of something. A rind? A sliver? I dunno. Tastes of vinegar, honey, amber malts, ending on pine and grapefruit lozenge. Actually a lot like Carmex and lemon herbs.

Feel is creamy and medium bodied. Light carbonation, chapped finish.

I don't like drinking liquified chapstick. I'll not be having this again.

With so many adjectives it must be brewed in a kitchen sink.
