    Uggg... Jetlag.

Well after a flight home from Australia I didn't make it to new years before falling asleep... I did however leap out of bed this morning at about 3am because my body apparently thinks it is 8am... tomorrow. I hate time zones

Hope this helps kick start my morning:

Actually saw midnight, which is a feat after driving to the lake with a dog, two kids and the wife, all packed into a Tiguan. But, after a morning run and a coffee, it's time for the first beer of 2016. Cheers to all.

Happy New Year BAs. I didn't see midnight, maybe it was 9:30? Last night for dinner I cooked some ribs and then watched the Blu-ray 4K restoration of The Third Man. Tremendous! Up now and going to finish watching the bonus features. I opened a bottle of Hipster Brunch Stout to keep me company.

Hope everyone didn't get TOO wild last night!

I need that shirt. I got up about 7am this morning (my son was considerate and played quietly in his room for a while) and saw the Happy New Year text message from my 65 year-old step mom from midnight. My wife and I made it to 11pm though! That's a record for us.

Good morning BA, and happy new year. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves last night, the Bois I had last took me out :flushed:. I've been up for a while, I wasn't able to get back to sleep. Here is what I am drinking this morning:

Always awesome IPA. Flavors of big bright grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and piney hops; with a moderate amount of caramel, honey, and bready malts. Good sized pine/rind sticky/resinous bitterness; with good dryness and no hop astringency. I certainly prefer Sculpin, but this is also outstanding when I am in the mood for a Centennial/Columbus hop flavor. Just as good as my other favorite C hopped IPAs.

This stuff is simply incredible. Flavors of huge dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, and light dark fruit. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with a really great balance of the coffee/cocoa, malt, and barrel flavors; along with roasted coffee bitterness/sweetness after the finish. Medium-full bodied; with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel. I think they should make this year round. The coffee/cocoa additions seem to give the base beer more body and darker stout-like complexities. It tastes like a poor man's KBS, and that's just fine with me. I'd drink it all the time.

3 years old and tasting incredible! I only have 1 left now, I should go buy more to cellar this week. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, leather, tobacco, char, light pine, and light smoke. Good amount of roast/char and herbal/piney hop bitterness on the finish. Nice full bodied creamy/slick finish with balanced roast malt/hop sticky/chalky notes as well. Even after 3 years, I am surprised how much hop character is still present; but given how hoppy Old Rasputin is fresh, this is right in the same area. Classic RIS qualities. I'll have to go buy more and try it fresh again to see the differences.

Another cellar grab for the day; this has been in there for a while, but it's an instant classic English Old Ale. I reviewed a 2008 last year. Flavors of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, and light leather/tobacco; balanced fruitiness of raisin, plum, prune, fig, pear, and apple; and herbal/light peppery hops and yeasty earthiness. Balanced bitter/spicy finish; with a moderately creamy/slick mouthfeel. Smooth sipping with minimal warming ABV. This is so outstanding. Pretty much perfect balance of malt, yeast fruitiness, and earthy hop notes.

    Cheers! Have great holiday BA
