Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good day. I have another busy project I need to work on tomorrow, meeting with the managers of the program I am working on again Thursday morning. Shouldn't be too bad, I work well under pressure. Onto today's reviews:

Very nice Oatmeal milk stout. Aromas and flavors of big chocolate, cocoa, creamy lactose, toasted oats, dark bread, and light coffee maltiness; with some light-medium raisin/plum yeast fruits and herbal hops. Balanced bittersweet roasted finish; with a really nice creamy/silky medium bodied mouthfeel with a light touch of roast malt sticky/chalky notes as well. Light-medium carbonation. Some light roasted dryness after the finish. Overall this was very robust and completely delicious. Nice restrained English yeast presence, with a very well rounded amount of malt complexity. Smooth and very drinkable. 3.9

Very nice Brett saison. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, peach, passion fruit, melon, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, cracker, bread, hay, straw, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery/spicy finish; smooth and crisp, with some light bready balancing creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness from carbonation. Very drinkable and refreshing beer. Well rounded fruity brett complexity with a balancing pale malt backbone. 3.9

Excellent stuff! Aromas and flavors of big juicy peach, mango, pineapple, papaya, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, and light peppery hops; with moderate malts of caramel/toasted bread and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate piney/spicy/citrus rind bitterness; medium dryness that increases through the glass from hop oils; sticky/resinous mouthfeel and some light-moderate balancing malt creaminess. Medium carb/body; very easy drinking and smooth. No hop astringencies. Just all around great stuff across the board. Very juicy and complex on the hop character with a nice supportive malt backbone; while still remaining dry and bitter on the finish. Glad I got a 6 pack as expected. 4.1

BBA Abbey Dubbel. Really nice stuff! Aromas and flavors of big raisin, cherry, plum, fig, apple, and peppery yeast; with balanced malt/barrel complexity of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and toasted oak. Light-moderate peppery yeast/oak/bourbon spice; light-moderate dryness with a great balance of malt and spiciness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation with a really nice moderately creamy/silky mouthfeel from the barrel aging; with some additional lightly sticky/prickly carbonation notes as well. Very smooth and easy going for 7.5%; pleasantly warming finish, likely from barrel influence. No booziness at all though. This was a really well rounded Dubbel, with a lot of nice balanced complexity from yeast, malt, and barrel angles. I also bought the BA Cerberus Tripel when I was in Ohio, so I am definitely looking forward to cracking that one soon. 3.9

This beer never ceases to amaze me, almost a month out of date and still drinking like a champ. Granted it best fresh but even with BB Dec 18 it is still tasting great.

The girlfriend decided to treat me to a beer for the good news on the job front. Stopped by Hair of the Dog, one of my all time favorites!

From left to right: Doggie Claws, Something from the Wood, Greg and Blue Dot. Always delicious and very well done beers. Doggie Claws has been a favorite for a long time! Greg is a squash beer that tastes a lot like apple cider and Blue Dot is a scarily drinkable DIPA. Almost no bitterness. The something from the wood (forget exactly) was sweet and sticky with cherries and currants upfront. Just tremendous and a great nightcap beer. But we didn't stop there...

Went to a Fred, which is one of their beers they age and blend and do all kinds of great things to. Fred was great! A golden ale that was everything you wanted it to be. But it couldn't totally hold a candle to its aged and blended brethren such as Otto.

A blend of Peach Fred and Cherry Fred aged in Bourbon Barrels from 2013. Excellent. Tremendous. Delicious. So incredible. Cannot recommend HotD enough!

Now sipping on an Old Rasputin while the gf has a duet. Cheers LBNA!

Now after that glorious Backwoods Bastard, I'm on to Southern Tier's 2XSMASH. I really enjoy this beer, and it happens to be tasting amazing to my palate at the moment. Cheers!

Rapidly diminishing head, pours root beer color (no surprise there). No head at all after a few seconds.

Aromas of vanilla, horehound, spice, sarsaparilla, and malts. Faint, slightly mechanical.

Flavor is delicious with a delightful burn, very sweet with vanilla and apple pie like flavors, a bit of spiced horehound and of course, root beer barrels. Not beer-like at all, I'm not sure how to take this...but it is delicious.

It is carbonated like pop, but I think that's the point. Lots of nice delicate burn on the palate, and no finish really.

Overall this is a relax, kick-up-your-feet, or even party beer. It tastes good and goes down easy, and is super surprising they were able to replicate root beer so well.

Had a good night, hit the local decent beer store & scored some Mother's Brewing MILF (what I am drinking now ), a Barrel aged Imp Stout, hit a little brewery here in Fayetteville, not bad, nice people & then a near-by pizza joint. The only downer of the night getting a call from wife requesting tech support on the misbehaving pellet stove in the basement. I tried to walk them through it. Doesn't sound like they got a good result. I guess they'll be using an electric heater there until get back there on Monday. Bummer... I will give it a look see then...

I agree, it was a great summer refresher. Just a touch too sweet right now. And yes, a pseudo-gose...

and, it will surprise no one, bell's 30th anniversary stout was the right choice for a night cap. added a teaspoon of homemade vanilla extract (in brown rum) for good measure.

watching DVR'd under capricorn. love joseph cotten, and i'm never unhappy to see ingrid bergman.
