What beer are you drinking now? #1179

Finishers:

Delicious Belgian pale ale as usual. Flavors of big peach, apricot, tangerine, lemon, pear, apple, light banana/bubblegum, pepper, and clove yeast; with moderate cracker/biscuity malt, herbal/grassy hop, and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate spicy yeast finish; with great malt/yeast balanced finish with a medium bodied fairly creamy mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness and fairly crisp. Very drinkable. A really spot on Belgian Pale ale/Trappist Single, with great all around yeast complexity and balanced bready maltiness. I am planning on brewing something similar this weekend. Should be nothing but Belgian Pils, Saaz, and probably Achouffe yeast to get it more balanced. We'll see how it goes. Just need to figure out mash temp and my water chem and I'll be good to go.


My go-to blonde ale. Robust roasted coffee/cocoa/creamy vanilla flavors; with lightly crackery/bready malt and a crisp finish with light wheat creaminess. Light roasted coffee/herbal hop bitterness on the finish. Super flavorful for 4.5%. I just had the Ballast Point version earlier this week, and I am definitely going to be rotating between the two. The BP one is higher in ABV; has a bit more bold flavors and a creamier mouthfeel; but as long as either is fresh I can't say I prefer one over the other.


One of my main go-to IPAs. Just got a fresh 3 week old pack last week. Tasting awesome! Flavors of big bright grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange rind, pine, and spicy/floral hops; with light caramel/bready malt balance; and a smooth/sticky hop mouthfeel and dry finish. Always love this stuff, especially super fresh as it is now.


My go-to easy to get BBA stout(in season). I have 1 left after this, but I will be stocking up again in the next month or two when it returns again. Big robust flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, and light-moderate dark fruit; with a balanced spicy oak/bourbon finish. Really nice presence of oak complexity without overtaking the malts or being too boozy. Nice creamy/silky finish for the modest ABV. Past it's "best by" dating, but still tasting awesome.

Ballast Point: Homework Series Batch 6 Robust Porter


Pretty good beer especially for the price.

 

Last night I had a bottle of Black Crack for the Thin White Duke.



Tonight I'm listening to Bowie some more and having another hit of Black Crack from a can.





Whether the 2014 faded, or is inherently not as good, or the can is a better container, or something, but this 2015 is much better than the 2014 from last night. Thanks @Pup21!
