Drinking the Lagunitas now and trying to decide which one of the big boys in the back I am gonns review tonight...

Vacation week.

 

Sipping on a Rodenbach Grand Cru to finish the day.

It is composed of young 1/3 and 2/3 for 2 years in oak matured beer. The result is a complex beer with wood and esters, vinous and with a very long finish. So I learned from the Rodenbach website.

Fascinating beer. I have tasted the normal Rodenbach years ago (and almost never since, to be honest) but this Grand Cru is really special.

local River Horse with their new Pils. it's pretty damn good. looks great too.



possibly my new favorite song, always been a Bobby D fan but only recently found this gem.

Going with a Pipeworks Grand Guignol (4.18) to start today. Yep, that one over flowed a bit on me.

 

Just got back from a 10 day road trip to LA, then San Diego. I ate Mexican the entire time, finding every hole in the wall place I could, being the only gringo there. That's the one things I mies about the mainland, legit Mexican food. Made a pic collage, actually had several others after I did the collage, haha! I got my fix... for a few weeks.


The first beer of the trip was Enjoy By, 2 days after it was bottled, amazing. So crazy that I can't get Stone here on Oahu, but they get it on Maui, which is much smaller. This was in my cool beer glass find from Goodwill. Bought it for .99, saw it on ebay for $13! Win!


***These beers were over the course of 10 days, not all the same night, thought I should clarify for the anal folks out there. Next was Pizza Port's Hop 15, again only a couple days old.


Tried this one out, it was a bit too malty for me. Had to drain pour it. I normally like El Segundo beers, this was a little bit of a disappointment for me.


Change of scenery, went to San Diego, took our yearly hike to the border beach. I like the athletes to go, it really puts everything into perspective.


Went to Alesmith, had Hawaiian Speedway, Port Wine BA Wee Heavy (picked up a bottle too), Deconstructed Hammerhead Blend A, and Hammerhead Speedway Stout. All were amazing!


Went to Modern Times several times, like that place a lot, and it was very close to the hotel. This was Floating World IPA, another great IPA from MT


Walked around Bottlecraft and browsed the selection, while enjoying a Perennial Sump on tap, velvety smooth coffee stout


Had many others, but since the pic limit is 10, I'll finish the trip with this one. Always was a Tony Gwynn fan, so glad to see Alesmith doing a beer in his homage and donating portions of sales to his foundation. On top of that, it was a solid IPA, not just a gimmick.


Had this one last night, great suggestion from the guy at Bine and Vine. Super citrusy IPA from a local SD brewery. I would drink this regularly if we got it here.
