Light color, light hops and malt, clean, crisp, refreshing, all the descriptive words for a nondescript beer. Ok, even good to some, certainly unremarkable.

Home from work after cycling through some warm sunny weather and the Chouffe Soleil seemed an obvious choice: refreshing with a bit of a citrus taste.

 

Enjoyable Mother's Day hiking out in Missouri wine country with my wife and kids.
They said to keep up on my fluid intake.

 

G' afternoon BA's! Been away for the weekend, no drinking for me. Had a lot of family stuff planned and drinking didn't fit into it.
The wife got BOGO annual passes for Legoland so we did that on Saturday as part of Mother's Day weekend.

Mother's Day was particularly hard on me this year having just lost Mom in November....but we went to Animal Kingdom and had some fun as a family in her memory!!

Yeah my youngest son got cut-off in this pic.

So today's beer is tasting extra good!!

Especially paired with my lunch!

French Fries, mushrooms, chicken and topped with some blue cheese crumbles.

Plus my wife just got another promotion at work!! She's doing really well at the DCL call center, just wish I would get some call-backs about my job applications and interviews!

On a side note, Axl Rose actually did a respectful job filling in on vocals for AC/DC this past Saturday. Sounded a bit like Bon Scott. Not an easy gig in front of 80,000 fans in a Stadium.

OK, the last 'Texels' picture I will post this year

They produce a reasonable range of beers. And I think I could go on till the end of the weekend with a different beer for every day.

Time to end this 'Texels promotion' however with the 'Vuurbaak' (old Dutch for lighthouse). This beer is only available on the island of Texel (and in the beer shops on the mainland for an extra price). It's made in the style of Irish Red Ale. The water used is groundwater from the dunes.

Last night, I had the Spruce Desay from De Garde followed by a 2014 Sahati from The Ale Apothecary (The last bottling, to the best of my knowledge...)

New beer for the day is Brasseurs Du Monde (Brewer of the world) Houblon Noir (Black Hop) Which I'm sure you can guess means its a Black IPA. Strong roasted coffee and earthy/floral hops on the nose. Smells really good. Cheers!

Yes....that is this ship - the Draken America expedition - re-tracing the routes of the Vikings to America - they will be in Lake Erie (Fairport Harbor Tall Ships Festival in early July - I will be a volunteer there!) before heading to the other Great Lakes through out the summer months
