That's some Cthulhu-lookin' shit right there...
    [IMG] [IMG]
    Attack of the Devil's Lettuce
    [IMG] [IMG]
DIPA collab between Pipeworks in Chicago and 18th Street Brewing in Gary, Indiana
    [IMG] [IMG]
Features coffee from Dark Matter Coffee (in Chicago), and Sorachi Ace hops

I swear I tasted lettuce the whole way through, too. Totally psychological, I'm sure... Anyway, I wasn't as wowed by the coffee as I'd expected, but I totally dug the drinking experience. I got lots of herbal and pale dry citric impressions to go with the malt sugars and abv. Reminded me a bit of Café Racer 15... :astonished:?

New Kvelertak CD is in da house!

    Ready?

    "Craft metal" :sunglasses:

Whole album is top-notch. More (heavy) 70's/80's sounds than their previous albums, with an almost stoner-grunginess. Like Mastodon, they are just basically doing whatever they want...

Checked out this 6.2% Belgian Style IPA from Pipeworks next...
    [IMG] [IMG]
    Glaucus

I started off with Belgians when I first got into craft, but I have definitely drifted, preferring American D/IPAs and imperial stouts for the most part (and always reaching for the new/hyped/limited beers that pop up (gotta stay on top of shit, y'know? :stuck_out_tongue: (*idiot*)))... so anyway, this was a really good brew. Dry, yeasty... 'specially compared to that Lettuce Attack earlier :grinning: but very flavorful and clean - bright grains and citrus - I woulda had another if I had another...

    Cheers...

Little early dinner since I was early to rise, early to leave work. Beers to have with include:

Caboose Brown Ale. Posted this before, still enjoying a bold brown that doesn't quite lean porter - definitely enough nutty malt. I also had the Mustang Sally Kolsch. Decent beer that had the malt sweetness grow with warmth. Not sure if there's any Sorachi Ace somewhere in there, but I did get some notes I get from that hop. Given what very little I know about the place, I'd not think crossing a classic style with a newer hop would be their thing, but who knows.

Afternoon BAs. Checking in from Perdernales Brewing Company, Fredericksburg, TX. Started with Lobo Negro which won the GABF 2015 gold for Schwartzbier:

A new movie recommendation, The Revenant. Leo finally earned his statue. Well deserved even if it's not his best performance ever. Considering his career the award was long overdue.

It's poignant, bloody, stunning, captivating... and other adjectives. I should go to the movies more often.

Good afternoon, BAs! After catching some sort of bug yesterday and watching my Seinfeld-esque streak go down the toilet - literally - I'm back today drinking this (and you're not): Monastyrskiy Black Currant Kvas. This is like a fruity, dark-bready sweet tea, nice carbonation but a little syrupy. I got this at a Ukranian grocery store in Columbus, Ohio. I'd guess the ABV to be zero or thereabouts, but it tastes pretty good anyway. Na zdorovie!
