Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I am 29 years old as of this morning, so I decided to duck into the cellar for a few things. I just need to figure out where to go mountain biking today.

Feb 2013 Vintage, my last one. Tasting awesome! Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, toasted biscuit malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind bitterness; balanced hop stickiness and creaminess in the mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied. Warming but not boozy finish. Solid increasing dryness from hop oils and spicy alcohol. Zero cloying sweetness. This is the same vintage I had that caused me to change my review last year. Still plenty of hoppiness and bitterness; smooth sipping. I need to try a '14 later this year, I feel like the quality of more recent batches is far better; and less of a sweet/syrupy malt bomb that they used to be. Definitely well attenuated on the malt sweetness, IMO.

Last 2011 in the cellar. Need to go buy more to age. Still some of last year’s on the shelf. This is tasting insane as usual. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light licorice/anise, and charred grain; with hints of raisiny dark fruit and herbal/spicy hops. Perfectly balanced bittersweet finish; creamy/silky full body; with some light drying sticky/chalky roast character as well. This is a classic RIS all the way through every single time.

    Cheers

Extremely disappointed in this one. And I'm really, really not liking the new BA format. It feels so cumbersome and awkward, much harder to navigate. Just my two cents. I only use my phone for BA so maybe it's easier on a computer, I don't know. Not liking it though. Sorry.

Good morning BAs! Starting off to be a sunny day here in NW PA - hope it lasts a few hours. Now that they're, I finally find some of their beer:

And, since I can't review this on BA:

    $ 10.48 (Including tax)/bomber ($ 0.477/oz) at Oppermann’s Cork ‘N’ Ale, Saginaw, MI
Undated bottle (2013/2014) at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma – roasted malt, molasses; fades
Head small (Maximum two cm, aggressive pour), light brown, creamy, diminishing to a two mm ring and thin layer
Lacing poor – a few small islands of tiny bubbles
Body – dark brown/black, opaque, some effervescence
Flavor begins molasses and roasted malt, slightly sweet; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
    Palate full, creamy, soft carbonation

A really nice take on a RIS – too bad they’re out of business. If I find any more of these on the shelf, I’ll pick them up.

    Appearance 4, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4, Overall 4.25

Greeting the morning with a glass of bottled Sunshine . . .

    Yazoo Brewing Pale Ale
    [IMG]

Appearance: Beautiful clear amber gold, white cap with good lacing.

Aroma: Floral, spicy hops followed by sweet malt, well integrated and nicely presented.

Taste: Good balance of malt and hops in concert, each working well with the other. The malt and hops interplay so well I can't decide which is most pleasing except to say the combination is working well. Clean finish.

    Texture: Medium

Overall: A Pale Ale clearly above the ordinary. A Pale Ale that doesn't need a shovel full of hops to stand out, this one gets your attention without shouting.
