Monday morning usual. Happy beginning of the week, advocates!
A little live music to start the day.
Upright • 2015 Anniversary Saison
Got up this morning and thought I'd celebrate being alive . . .
look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25
Nice clear light golden color with moderate white cap and lacing.
Aroma is primarily resinous hops with a darker, stronger hop underlayer that is pungent and sharply herbal. Floral scent is present in a heavier way but not intrusive, something almost spicy but with a quick cutoff.
Flavor is certainly hop forward and lasting throughout with a tapering off in the aftertaste. Malt is present and carries the hops along but contributes more to the body than the flavor. It all works together but this is a hop show and the hops do sing out. Malt appears as the brew warms and hop flavor develops more fully. Not more hop flavor but one of more depth and intensity. For all that the hops don't cross over into bitterness territory but stay within bounds which is a rather neat balancing act.
Texture is light medium but is certainly no lightweight.
Brewer says they use 6 hop varieties for a combined total of 69 IBU. This combination works well to produce a rather pleasant if limited dimensional flavor. I mean, it is labeled Hoppy Birthday so one shouldn't be surprised that it is a brew that features hops. Billed as a session ale at 5.25% it is that and a refreshing one as well. Sometimes I think a "Session IPA" might be an ingenious solution to a non existent problem but as session ales go this one works well.
rose de gambrinus, pre bottle right out the barrel
Good Monday morning!
With a little Dave Mathews
I love this beer, one of my favorite APAs:
Heading into the woods for a workout. One more load of firewood.
Breakfast n' beer
Hi everyone! Ima gonna make-a the pizza pie but with smoked gouda, sage, apples & bacon. Pairing it with Genesee Altbier. Cheers and Happy Monday!
I am on page one! (But below the fold)
Rockingham Javelina IPA at The Union Diner. Better than I remember.
Some Super Fresh while I contemplate what's for lunch.
Finally fully recovered from some boozy misadventures on Saturday. Getting right back on the horse with a fantastic freaking lunch at the Engine Room, and whetting my whistle with a BP Sculpin on nitro.
Back to the Moon! I wish I would have tried this beer much sooner. So yummy!
Lunch has been contemplated and cooked. Some chili cheese fries topped with hot sauce and chopped cilantro. And the most important part of the meal, some Half Acre Daisy Cutter. It's an easy drinking pale ale with lots of flavor, reminds me of MBC Mo, though Mo is definitely hoppier. If I lived out towards the windy city Daisy Cutter would be a regular.
Beer store guy told me that there will be a lot of stuff this week, so I have to make room now. Starting the Stone anniversary IPA pack with the Five Year.
Thirsty Dog - Scarlet O'Hoppy IPA.. cheers!
650 beers and counting. Still an unapologetic beer nerd.
Monday's suck. Time for a beer. Quite a nice one too, pleasantly surprised. Cheers BA's!
Finished a F-W Velvet Merlin lurker, that I just wasn't in the mood for last night. (after I opened it, of course. ; ) ) Still tasting good. Now on to this :
I hear there's something going on in NJ tonight, & everybody(-2) is gonna be there?
I'll be busy staring into my beer, if you need me. : P
My first Luponic Distortion.
Quite delicious. Beautiful golden color and interesting combo of piney, floral and citrusy hop notes. Overall a decent easy drinking yet flavorful brew.
Pairing with roast chicken (glazed with reduced pan jus) and roast cabbage.
Midnight Oil, an oak aged Imp Stout, brewed by Ghost Brewing in Denmark and West Coast Bryggeri in Sweden. Very nice!
Pretty! This is my pizza from earlier which went well with the beer I had. Cheers!
Chromatic Ratio & Picture if you will on the right. Mega Bomb!!
This was Fire from Beahwood!
Miss my old Long Beach stompin grounds!
Queen Mary will Always be Long Beach!!
I could drink these all day, as you are all aware by now....
Fremont Brewing Field to Ferment Fresh Hopkins IPA.
That looks like an amazing breakfast pizza!! Since you sleep at 7 AM, it would be perfect time for breakfast
Preparing for evening meeting, enjoying some time with
Florence, tasting incredible.
