Kostritzer Schwarzbier

Nose is mild roast nothing burnt. Medium mouthfeel, mild spice from hop. A lightly bubbly finish to show you a ribbon of chocolate and hop bitter in the finish. No astringency. Only a hint of caramel. It's like satin trim, the bitter chocolate finish in the schwarzbier. In this one it's very mild but it smells like bakers chocolate. It finishes the beer smooth, like silk and lets you glimpse the hops herbal as it leaves drying. The example of the style.

A Paulaner Salvator Doppelbock.

After my first taste of this beer yesterday I was euphoric about it. Ranking it in my personal top 5 of all time greatest beers. Reason enough to have another taste today.

Like expected; still like it as a great beer, but top 5 is now more top 15. However, still a real nice discovery.

Back from Arizona late last night/early this morning. I don't like flying west to east.
Played golf this morning. Pictured is our 17th hole, a short par three. The ball is my tee shot and I did make the birdie (the only highlight of my round)

Looks like TinyPic is shitting the bed for me now so ill default to Photobucket that I haven't used since forever. I scored a few four packs of Harvest after my morning run at one of the regional stores. Pulling out the fancy glass for the occasion! A nice reward after doing some speed work prepping for a 5k on Saturday in Chicago. A bit cooler today, but still better than a normal October day around here.

I can't think of a better way to relieve the pain and suffering from some hump day day dental work.....

 

drinking 'the nameless' ipa from foam, i just can't get enough of this beer. if you're ever in burlington, do yourself a favor and go check them out.

A friend passed this along to me and I'm sorry to report it wasn't for me. With no date on the can, I have no idea if it's old? He says the store told him they received it in late August. Tastes like a malty artificial mess from last year to me. Oh well, time to think about the next beer already!
