    I see some of the usual earlybirds have posted.
    It's a warm day but we got a couple inches rain last night, so it's too wet for golf. Still hoping to play another round.
    Starting the day with a breakfast sandwich and some Coffee Stout.

    Back from second walk with dogs this morning. Time to put our big beer pants on and get this day moving along:

    Six months in bottle and this 12% devil is still a hot hop bomb. There is a big sweet caramel malt base that doesn't corral all the hop bitterness. The alcohol is astringent and the multiple hops are muddled with no distinct flavor profiles taking the lead. On the up side, I like big boozy beers, and this definitely fits the bill - cheers morning imbibers!

    I invited a few good friends over for dinner tonight, and decided I would go with chili. It's based on my grandmother's recipe, which was always awesome. Not super spicy chili of doom; just delicious.

    I can't quite replicate it, I've lost the exact recipe, and I have a few twists of my own. More concerning, I've never made it for guests; I last made it over three years ago, for my (then) wife and I. Needless to say, I'm nervous how it will turn out.

    I mean, it's chili; it's gotta be good, right? :flushed: (I'm hoping!) Plus, it'll have a good 8 hours to slowly cook.

    If all else fails, at least we'll have plenty of beer handy. :sunglasses:

    Lol! Look at the containers. I pour down the middle and if the vessel is small ( and I'm buzzed :slight_smile: ), spillage happens! I think I'm at least 90% drawing within the lines... :rolling_eyes:

    After the Bean comparison (4 Beans seems roastier and more mellow without losing too much coffee flavor), I'm staying with porters, this one accompanying a breakfast sammich (sans burnt crusts).
