Gorgeous day here in CNY. too bad it isn't going to last past Saturday.

@utopiajane , I don't recall your thoughts on this one, but it's currently on sale at Green* (don't have to have a coop membership) for $5.99 a 12 pack. Pretty hard to beat that price.

Looks like it was canned at the end of July, but still tasting good.

    Cheers.

Good morning/afternoon BA's!! Had these in the wee hours this morning after work while watching more James Bond on Hulu to celebrate the first snowfall of November and really kickstart the holiday season! Jubel is really close to figgy pudding a couple years later and both were excellent! Headed to Bozeman for the Astronautalis concert this evening and of course some beer shopping. We had a Craft Beer Cellar there but it closed recently so I'll just have to hit the 5-6 stores I would frequent before they opened... such a rough life. Cheers everyone have a great weekend!!!

    Happy Friday everyone,

2 lunch beers that I just cracked open. First a Southern Tier Pumking that my bro in law gave to me. First off if I was rating this beer off nose only she would get a 5. Smells like I just walked into a bakery making holiday pies and treats. If this beer was a candle I'd light it and let the aroma waft through my house. The taste? Well it's a bit unbearable for me. It is a extremely odd tasting brew is the way I will phrase it. A little to much Pumpkin spice or whatever going on.
The second beer I can get behind a bit more. Three Creeks Fivepine Chocolate Porter. Huge roasted malt, almost smokey and a big dry chalky bakers chocolate taste. This would be a excellent dessert beer.

Cheers BAs and stay safe out there tonight.

A St. Bernardus Abt 12. Picture is a bit messy. My favorite beer-theater is occupied by cake and pie-baking activities tonight.

You could say this St. Bernardus is a 'generic Westvleteren'. It's made according to the same recipe. There is also a connection with Mont de Cats (Catsberg).
    Cheers!

Mont des cats is good but nowhere as great as other Belgian trappist, or la trappe in that regard. I thought the same about Spencer, there's some efforts from either monks but it's hard to topple the classic.

I agree. Had a Mont des Cats only once earlier this year and two different Spencers. Nice beers in their own right, but indeed not as great as the classic Trappist beers.

Digging the Narrow Gauge glass. I'm surprised anyone outside of St. Louis knows about them yet, they are very new and small, but growing quickly!
