    That Stone IPA was freaking awesome, now onto one of my favorites from Boulevard. [​IMG]

    I literally hate that I dont know how to turn this upright.

    I' drinking my second Brau Brotheres "IVAN THE GREAT", ever. It's Black and thick as oil , everything you want in a R.I.S except for the hop taste, which kind of clashes with the delightful blend of Malts. The Brau brothers Brewery grow their own hops, as well as their grains. I don't know what hops they use in this Brew, Possibly a proprietary strain. but it is too grassy and astringent for my taste. That's to bad because this comes close to being a really good American R.I.S.

    Even as a fan of the recent releases from Brau, I can't get into the Ivan. I picked up a four-pack and have had two so far. I wouldn't even call it thick. I found it to be rather thin for the style, and slightly unbalanced. I like imperial stouts with a hoppy edge, as I know most will age for some time. However, I don't see it with this one. I agree. It does have an astringency to it that I can't get past.

    9.6% BBA RIS. HOLY SWEET JUMPING JESUS. Bourbon coming out the wahoo. Aged 6+ months on freshly drained bourbon barrels

    Even with being released last fall, this brew has held up really well in the fridge. The hops have faded a bit, but it's nicely balanced. It's not just a clever name. Great River makes some really tasty brews.
