Wow, that's one heck of a breakfast. I guess I shouldn't feel (too) bad that I'm planning to have an English Barleywine in a few minutes.

On this historic New beer Sunday I thought I would start with this . Cheers BA!

Do you know that I think there is an empircal way to judge what is not only clear but bright. I could be wrong and this could be a wives tale but if you can read the words clearly , no distortion that is not only clear but also bright.

    Good morning.

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! I have a pretty busy day for today. Have double laundry since I didn't do it last week after Christmas break. Also need to attempt to finish up some work for my manager for tomorrow morning. This whole month is going to be busy, but once the first pilot builds are done we will be in the clear for a little while.

Amazing as always. Flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, light mango, and pine hops; with wheat, bread, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, grassy, spicy bitterness. Medium bodied; balanced grainy malt creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly resinous, with increasing bitter dryness; never astringent. Really well balanced IPA, classic Willamette and C hop flavors. Need to grab another 6 pack, I should drink this more often.

Delicious American stout. Flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, cinnamon, raisin, nutmeg, vanilla, caramel, toasted dark bread, and brown sugar; with lighter notes of coffee, toffee, smoke, and charred grains. Moderate roast/char and piney/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; balanced malt creaminess, chalky roast, and hop/spice stickiness in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness. I like this just about as much as the base beer for the most part, but it has some differences. Feels less aggressively roasty/bitter; in favor of the spice and toffee/vanilla notes. More residual sweetness, which helps showcase the flavoring better. Will definitely keep grabbing more singles, I'm a big fan of this.

Fantastic batch this year! A lot cleaner looking than I recall too. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread malt sweetness; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness. Medium-full bodied; balanced malt creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly slick and resinous; increasing resin dryness, never astringent. Wow, I forgot how much I loved this one. Definitely will pick up some more this week. Insanely juicy tasting on hops thanks to the malt presence, but not all too sweet either. Great bitterness balance. Minimal warming ABV for 12%. Absolutely delicious.

Incredible as always, one of my favorite smoked beers of all time. Just got this off the shelf a few weeks ago. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, wood smoke, toasted dark bread, caramel, and light toffee/coffee/charcoal; with some herbal/spicy hops and a touch of yeasty dark fruits. Bittersweet balanced roast/spicy hop finish. Medium bodied; balanced bready creaminess and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing roast/hop dryness. Absolutely amazing stuff. Tons of dark/roasted malt complexity with a great presence of smoked malts. Almost meaty feeling. Love it every time.

    Because why not...

This is my very first English Barleywine and holy crap am I totally impressed. Surely, it's not just any E.B. but one aged in Sherry casks so it has additional aroma/taste elements. Absolutely amazing. Brewed in 2012. Pours a hazy maroon/brown with absolutely no head or carbonation. Smells amazing. Sweet with definite sherry notes and some honey. Lots and lots of plum too. Tastes very sweet upfront, followed by some teasing bitterness. Very viscous and smooth. Absolutely delicious!

Good morning BAs! Looks like our third of 30 sunny days for the year coming on - clear skies and a glow in the east (Unless someone nuked Harrisburg). Today's New Breakfast Beer is:

Good morning, BAs! I have a little medical something-something tomorrow afternoon, and they specified 24 hours of no caffeine. :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing: They didn't mention anything about alcohol, though ... but I figured I should just as well assume alcohol is a no-go for 24 hours, too.

Thus, this 9 am beer is the responsible decision. :stuck_out_tongue::grinning:

    Happy Sunday BA's

Another cold one - 8 degrees and sunny

Not enough snow to cross country ski on.....so will have to day dream about a new winter desire....an ice boat....sigh....sailed on one once many years ago and never forgot the exhilaration with that acceleration.....0-60 mph in like 5 seconds....awesome! Maybe someday.......

In the meantime....nice local coffee porter
