It's still stout and barleywine season due the ridiculously cold march weather here in Chicago. Enjoying Squatters Outer Darkness from Utah Brewers Cooperative courtesy of Oboogie. A very tasty, solid RIS. Very enjoyable!

Westbrook Shane's Big DIPA. This stuff is seriously fresh, smelled like fresh cut grass when I opened the bottle. One of my favorite DIPAs right now.

I hate you so much for having the TWO glasses I want the most, and one of the beers I've been trying to snag for such a long time.

    Tonight's newbies:

Wasn't expecting much after picking this single up randomly. One of the best brown ales I have ever had hands down. So robust with a great creamy mouthfeel. This is going on the "clone brew this" list.

Damn good Schwarzbier! I remember being a fan of the doppelbock these guys made. This is lagered just as well. Hardly any lager fruity esters present with plenty of roast, dark chocolate, and coffee with some nice robustness.

WOW, the aromas and flavors on this beer are two different beasts. Smells like an Xmas stout; tastes like a heavy spiced Belgian stout. I am going to have to finish the review for final thoughts, but I think I'm a fan of this. We'll see. I might have to buy some cellarables of this one to tone down the spices.

yes, which had me nervous because the seal was severely crimped...
luckily, it was perfectly carbonated despite my concern

i added the beer and posted a review

Drinking my only CBS I received in a trade. Fortunately this bottle was a good one. Still taste the maple notes quite easily. Drinking this one with my brother tonight(got for him as Christmas present and just couldn't find a time to drink it). watching USA soccer shit the bed. Hittin the sack after this as I'm flying to vegas tomorrow for my bachelor party!

I'm always leery about swingtops, HF grolwers are ALWAYS wet around the seal but it seems fine for short term stuff. I've had a few swing top commercial stuff with a few years on them that were dead flat and oxidized. Seems like an odd choice of bottle for a Fantome....

Great review by the way, sounds delicious! Roasty saison...crazy! Cheers.

Had this a little earlier today -- full review in profile. (3.98/5 RATING... Y U SO LOW!?) I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of canned beer the more I have it... between the Oskar Blues that I've had and the Finch's Secret Stache, I don't wanna have a bottle again.

Yeah, it really is a fantastic RIS, and I continue to like it more and more with each sip. I'm really surprised that the cumulative rating isn't higher. Then again, it isn't limited, isn't barrel-aged, isn't a huge hop bomb, and isn't a overly hyped special release. I'm not sure if a lot of reviewers here on BA know what to do with a beer like this. (I admit it, I'm really getting cynical...;))

You know, that's the first IPA I ever had. Didn't even know what an IPA was before I picked up a 6 of this for a party about 7 years ago.
