Good morning BAs! Got my computer back yesterday and can post photos again! Today's New Breakfast Beer - well, not exactly new - split a bottle with my brother and sister-in-law back when it came out. But I didn't review it until today's bottle, so that counts as new for me.

And Friday's (Or was it Saturday's) New Breakfast Beer:

But the important thing to take from this is MY COMPUTER IS HOME!

Day off from golf today. Leaving the in-laws tomorrow to visit our daughter in the Tampa area.
This is another beer from the pick six my in-laws bought for me. Good, thought it would be hoppier.

Good morning and Happy Hump Day BA's! These humps have been back breaking to get over these last couple of weeks, but here we are again on the smooth sailing downhill slope. Let's get through this! (I should mention this was all for self-motivation. You're welcome to engage how you see fit :sunglasses:.) It's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

    GotD:
Let's welcome a first time to the winners circle, and thus a first time GotD recipient , @bret717 for this amazing bird etched Thistle with a little off the top! Cheers and congrats!
2nd: For the second day in a row, @LockeNess33 coming in with some outstanding hardware. Very nice gold embossed pokal representing three of today's finest!
3rd: Welcome back @Chaz for this wonderful Czechvar tankard.

Honorable mention goes out to @Roelleke1986123inkijk for another fine Leffe chalice. Love the intricacies on that stem!
Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon!

Another oldie but goodie from the beer fridge dated 10/09/15. The coffee has mellowed out and the chocolate has taken center stage, but there's still a decent amount of alcohol burn from the 11% abv. A solid beer to come home to after the dogs decided they wanted to explore the surrounding fields. The 50 degree weather is now a memory with a light dusting of snow that fell early this morning.

Chocolate and coffee calls for one of my guilty pleasures! This should help get me through the rest of the week?

I got impatient waiting for my homebrew to carb up, had to know what it tastes like this year. First time brewing this recipe all grain, Pilsner malt, light Munich, and carapils. Big dose of Saaz in the boil with a little Tettnang and then a good dry hop with Tettnang.

Malts have a little bready sweetness and some nice toast character. Saaz provides that clean noble hop bitterness with a spicy floral flavor and the Tettnang gives it a nice earthy grassy flavor and aroma. Once it carbs up it's going to be crisp and clean.

    Cheers!

With the Super Bowl, NBS, and my brother over to share a few brews, I didn't even notice that until later. It was a pretty memorable beer from a small brewery. A happy accident! My source is searching for another bottle. Congrats to you and your teams historic victory!

Red Chili for lunch washed down with . . .

    Score 3.69
    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Clear, bright, light ruby red color with white cap and good lacing.

Aroma of bread yeast and light toffee. Light hop spice.

Taste is malt forward with more of a darker caramel than toffee flavor. Very light touch of roasted barley without bitterness. I get a bit of sweetness that doesn't come across as actually sweet. Hops enough to accent but don't shout their presence. Aftertaste a is muted melange of what came before and perhaps this is where an otherwise well made beer falls off somewhat. It's like everybody rushed to the door at 5:00 without clocking out.

Medium texture accented by the prickle of carbonation.

I keep using the word light but there isn't anything really light about this beer. I guess I'm saying light touches that somehow add up to a fairly substantial brew. The whole of the parts make up more than pale but less than dark. Red color is the premise so color is directing the process by adding darker malt that really isn't bringing anything to the table that was actually needed. Not a bad brew by any measure, or even a flawed one, yet instead of a flavorful pale or richer dark this just seems like a lot of work to come up with something middling.
