    Happy Friday, advocates!
Time for my usual end of the week treat. My favorite beer store has a couple cases on sale for $7.99 a four pack, so I should be good with these for a while.

Looks pale when pouring but in the glass displays a rich gold color. Quickly disappearing cap leaving traces of lacing.

Aroma of sweet candy like cranberry with a touch of ginger. At least I think I detect ginger though I might be subject to the power of suggestion on that.

Taste is straight up sweet cranberry backed by a brace of tartness with a touch of ginger. Hops are completely overwhelmed and the beer backbone appears as a presence rather than a taste. Clean, distinct flavor that appears to be natural fruit which is supported by a refreshing berry presence in the aftertaste. Nothing artificial detected.

Body enough to know there's some beer in there, somewhere.

A likable, approachable, Summery beery sort of thing that really tastes like something presented at a child's birthday party. The sweetness isn't sticky, it's well done, there just isn't enough tart sharpness to offset the overlying sweetness. Makes me want to reach for a Klosch.

Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue 16 oz canned 1/5/17. No ABV or IBU noted on can. Brewed in FL. Golden straw colored with substantial head that completely recedes to impressive lacing. Smells like fresh citrus. Taste follows the smell with more orange juice than rind. Bitterness is just right, just enough not to overpower the subtle citrus. Mouthfeel is impressive for a pale. It is full and soft without being sweet or sticky. Overall, this is a great pale ale. If I could routinely buy it off the shelf fresh at $10/4pk, I would have it frequently. Recommended

Good morning BAS! Well, it's almost 1200 here in the EST zone and I just got my computer back after the most recent Chrome fuck up. Just for the hell of it, I also replaced my modem and got some cable to I can go WiFi-less the next time Chrome blows me out of the water. Since I'm using Firefox that shouldn't be an issue, but yesterday somehow Firefox morphed into Chrome and took my wife's computer down. Since I was using it at the time, mine being dead and all, it was quite a surprise. Well, let's see if I can post a pix of today's New Breakfast Beer...

And nope, that didn't work. Well, on to solving the next problem.

Day 7 of my 9-day weekend :grimacing: finds me drinking this from Threes Brewing...
SFY (Superfuckingyawn)... Double dry hopped IIPA, 9.4% abv, featuring Mosaic, Simcoe, and Columbus hops, ...and Mosaic lupulin powder... :astonished: This is the second beer I've had this month featuring a lupulin powder - a new trend?

This beer is fucking nuts. Tropical fruits and piney resin on the nose - has a distinct dankness to it. The flavors and feel are similarly incredible. Yes, there are impressions of pale orchard and tropical fruits, but they are balanced, to say the least, by a dank pine oil, slick and sinuous... The feel is soft and smooth and almost has oily sheen to it that lingers on the tongue. Bitterness is moderate, sweetness subdued, and carbonation smooth. Something of a candied fruit/pixie dust finish to put a bow on it at the end...

One can limit is a bummer, as this was top-flight... 1/25/17 canning...

I'm gearing up for Bockfest at August Schell (I've missed a few but my college buddies have hit it up for 22 consecutive years or some shit like that.) LOVING the Stag Series Tropical Stout . . . super-drinkable, and gently warming:

Also givin' much love for the brand which hooked me and a lot of others on their dark "ales -- Schmaltz's Alt. In a more perfect world, Schmaltz would be a year-round 12-pack:

Slightly hazy, light golden color sporting a big, fluffy white cap with decent lacing.

Definite hit of lemon in the aroma. Not a sharp, citrusy lemon, rather a rounded, softer one, lemon-lime perhaps. Bit of pine also.

Taste is a refreshing burst of citrus with the lemon upheld by a stronger piney hop presence. All resting on a lighter sort of wheat brew substantial enough to bear the weight but is more like bamboo latticework than brick foundation. The pine influence carries all the way through the finish providing a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. I would've preferred a more subtle hop effect in the aftertaste as the heavier bitterness seems a bit out of sync with what came before.

Lightish texture that matches the lightish flavor.

Ok, we've got a basic wheat ale flavored with lemongrass and conifer hops. It does work as intended (except for the heavier handed aftertaste) which given the parameters makes sense. A more substantial body would've overshadowed the flavoring elements. The brewer intended a light body (says so on the label) with bright highlights and that's what they produced. A good, perhaps even laudable goal, just wish they'd quit while ahead and let the finish be the finish.
